Another athlete who is playing up an age group is Lexi Sheffield Lexi Sheffield 5'7" | DS/L Edgewood | 2029 WI for Madtown 161 National who will be heading to Indy with a National division bid.  Sheffield brings a maturity to the libero position where she can handle a high volume in serve receive, anticipates well to beat the ball to the spot, and is well trained in being able to take pace off a big swing.  She preps at Edgewood out of Madison.  I’ve written about quite a few Edgewood athletes this winter as they should have an exciting season coming up.  Sheffield will also be on the Badger Region High Performance All Star team this upcoming summer. 

Lexi showed maturity and a high volleyball IQ on the court. She always seemed ot know how to handle the chaos of the game, which gave her side of the court an edge during gameplay. Lexi did all of the little things right, from her consistent out-of-system sets to her footwork and movement on serve receive. This sets her apart in a massive way and allows her to make even the toughest balls look easy while being able to cover large areas of the court on defense and serve receive.

Madtown 15-1 National has put together a really strong season, making a statement throughout the Badger Region.  Their libero is Lexi Sheffield from the Class of 2029, playing up an age group who really sets the tone with their ball control. She can handle a high volume on serve receive, can take pace off a hard swing, and anticipates well – beating the ball to the spot.  Sheffield along with her teammates will be fun to watch as they build momentum into nationals. 

Lexi is a player with a lot of potential. She has excellent court awareness and is incredibly quick across the court. Lexi is a backcourt leader who constantly communicates with her team. She impressed me with her out-of-system setting and clean serve receive passes. Lexi also puts in an aggressive serve and works to stay on the back line for multiple points in a row.
