About Lily

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play a very active style of play, have quick read and reaction abilities and am a versatile setter playing front & back row as well as RS. My coaches say I'm one of the most coachable players they have ever coached. I previously played soccer at the top level from age 5 to 12, which has led to fast feet on the court & a high competitive mindset.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Relentlessly train daily but also mix in just playing outside with family & friends to keep touches up. During gameplay I stay engaged & focus on anticipating as much as reacting. As a setter many times I have to anticipate, observe & start my movements before I make my play. Soccer trained me to be agile & have fast change of direction. I love to compete and lead as Team Captain!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

KYA, Beta. I do the news for my school in the mornings, host for new potential students and am House leader. Previously played in the Girls Academy (national level soccer league) for my soccer club team before eventually making the switch to Volleyball full-time. The physical play, speed and training intensity of playing soccer at a high level prepared me for the jump to VB.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a setter on all 3 teams I play for I have to be a leader & be very vocal on the court. I also am very active in team group chat to make sure everyone is on the same page. This has led me to develop leadership skills and confidence off the court. I do community service for my school and church. I'm also a captain for my Lex United 14-Elite Team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The first real challenge was finally making the decision to leave soccer for volleyball full time after playing since I was 5. But I haven't looked back! The other challenge I face is being a setter for different coaches that have different styles and direction on how to set. But I love learning and think this will make me the best setter I can be.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am only a 8th grader now so I am not sure. I just know that I want to continue to play at the next level after high school.

Lili continues to progress at a rapid pace and is just as impressive. She is natural with great hands and reads the court extremely well. She can turn a tight to the net pass into a one hand set and make it work giving her pin the best opportunity to score. She gets up for the block, moves quickly on the court, sets a nice ball to the OH and has a great backset, she can read the block and outsmart the opponent with a smooth fast jump set and does it all well. She utilizes the front row well and runs a smooth efficient court. She will get to the next level no doubt
