Smith should fit into the new club nicely coming off a solid season for the Lions. Smith makes things happen from both the pins and middles. Defenders have a hard time anticipating where she’ll hit balls because balls fly off her hands to all six zones on the court. Smith takes quality out of system swings. Smith also does a great job with swing blocking making things difficult on opposing hitters. Smith had 256 kills good for sixth in the GGCL this past season to go with 61 blocks helping Ursuline go 19-8, finish second in the GGCL at 5-3 and drive to the Ohio Division III region title game.

Ursuline won a solid Cincy-area non-conference match versus Loveland, one of the favorites in the ECC, by a 3-1 result. Smith (*pictured), a 6’0 middle, led their offense with 16 kills on a .250 efficiency. She also shined on the defensive side as she collected 10 digs to support the team high effort in total blocks with five. The Lions rely a lot on a corps of non-senior prospects for key efforts as Smith, just a sophomore, is averaging 2.8 k/s. She gets good lift off the court and has good arm control to swing through space with good authority.

Smith has upgraded her game and overall impact as a middle. She is very intentional in her work coming off the net to get available in transition. Her spacing and timing allow her to use her quickness off the floor and fast arm swing and range of control to move the ball around. Ursuline graduated some big offense and Smith is poised to help them fill that gap with a high ceiling and very bright future ahead of her as she enters her sophomore season.

As a middle, Smith is a solid anchor for her Elevation team at the net. Currently in the top-10 in the Ohio 2028 rankings, she has good polish to her offensive tools as this stage. As this team likes to run her quick attack a little higher she has good command of her transition effort and in developing timing to be able to swing at the top of her jump with a high contact point. Smith is equally fluid and impressive in front of her setter and through a slide option to the right pin.

Smith does a great job using her size to put a lot of power into hits. The 15 Tony team lost the lone game Sunday, but Smith gave the team a chance with her net defense and sinking line drive serves. She’ll continue to be a force at the net as the season progresses.

The 6’0 Smith is rangy in her reach and contact point, which has proven to be a big asset in her game on both sides of the ball. She landed among the top prospects in this initial rankings phase for the 2028 class, including coming in as one of the top middles following the recent high school season where her increased aggressiveness was noticeable. She has a good relationship with her setter offensively with range in her scoring ability in front and behind, while also swinging for power or finesse. Set to compete again for Elevation ‘s top 15U team over the next several months, Smith has shown the ability to make a big impact with her arm with opportunity to command the ball as a primary threat offensively.
