Houston Stock Up Showcase – G’s Top Performers – Vol. 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig had a stop of its Stock Up Showcase in Houston on Saturday, offering high school sophomores, juniors and seniors a great opportunity to compete against (and with) some of the top talent in the region and to showcase their skills to scouts and college coaches.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There were around 60 prospects on the court during the event held at the [program_tooltip program_id='431337' first='Texas' last='Tornados'] club, coming not only from H-Town, but also from several other cities in the Lone Star State, such as Austin, San Antonio, McAllen and Corpus Christi, and it was a highly competitive, yet very fun atmosphere.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fellow Prep Dig scout Mallori Howington, myself and the court coaches were paying attention to everything and were pleased to see many prospects standing out with their strong play. Her strong offensive game made of her one of the most impressive prospects in the first drills as no one else combined size, jumping ability, reach and a quick and heavy arm in the way she did. Seeing Robinson in action during the match-like drills, though, makes it easier to understand why she's considered one of the most promising prospects in Texas. Her game is very well-developed from a technical standpoint and she adds a lot to it with her quick thinking and smart decision-making. A tall setter, Scott uses her height contact point very well, playing fast when she has a chance, but not lacking in accuracy or consistency. Her technique seems a bit improved, but more important than that, she looks more explosive and confident on the court. During the first defensive drills, Gilbert did a very good job of stretching her body and getting good contact with the ball to make plays. A very physical player, she's learning how to best use her tools on both sides of the ball and that was seen during the showcase as she was solid with her offense and her blocking. Primarily a setter, she displayed great court awareness, good decision-making and was always precise and consistent with her distribution. She played as a right side hitter in some drills too and impressed with a very interesting offensive game.
