The great part is that the recruiting journey is personal, and everyone is looking for something different. Some of these players have made verbal commitments while others continue visits and research to find their home at the next level. This class is full of incredibly talented athletes and here are a few to highlight from our most recent ranking update.
Holding Steady in Top Ten
Jaynes of Northfield and MN Select had quite a season last year. She led Northfield to some pretty big upsets against top ranked teams and then made a club change from Northern Lights to MN Select. This set her up in a position to run a 5-1 and increase the number of touches on the ball as well as work on her setter attack. She had some big weapons including Elena Hoecke Elena Hoecke 6’3″ | MB Centennial | 2026 State MN and Carly Gilk Carly Gilk 6’2″ | RS Champlin Park | 2025 State #27 Nation MN . I’ve seen some great highlights but I’m looking forward to seeing her play in person this fall.
Push for Athleticism
Holthaus was a player with a lot of raw potential and athleticism and I think this was a really big year of growth for her. Last September she was named as a Maxpreps AVCA MN Player of the Week and followed that by making the Northern Light 16-1 squad in November. Holthaus was named to the JVA Watchlist and then this past week committed to play at Division 1 South Dakota with NL teammate, Ava Ball Ava Ball 6’0″ | OH Nova Classical Academy | 2025 State MN . Holthaus athleticism is translating into some really great plays and showing a lot of big potential for her future.
Geared Up For The Fall
I’ve never been shy about how much I like Kelzenberg’s style of play. Her season with MN Select has prepped her for another big season with Wayzata who will be looking for yet another State Championship and National ranked season. Seeing her at USAV GJNC in Chicago I noticed she is staying true to her dynamic style with the ability to drive hard and score in a number of ways. Kelzenberg never shys from running a faster tempo and she is tough to stop when her team is in system. She explodes into her jump and makes a great contact on top of the ball that leaves a lasting impression.
Highlights
I caught Slusser in Chicago for Nationals and her ability to read and and be on top the fast tempo attacks as a block was impressive. She doesn’t shy away from using the opposing block’s hands or getting off the ground quickly and being in the air ready to swing. As a setter, you love to know your middle is ready for you to put the ball in her hands. She exposes a lot of blocking issues as well as exposes the opposing team’s defensive flaws with a well-placed roll shot.
Recent Commitments
I’ve seen Tufto play on either pin and she is equally effective. She has a lot of length and paired with an explosive approach and jump she can contact the ball at a high point. Tufto stays calm on defense and gets her hips under the ball. At the net she is a big blocking presence and her defense loves setting up behind her. She picks her shots and isn’t afraid to use hands for the kill. Tufto recently committed to play for Division 1 Montana State.
Available Outsides
Weaver is steady and consistent and is just the player who will do whatever is necessary for her team. She isn’t flashy but she gets the job done. Weaver scores points down the line, placing a shot cross court, and using the hands of the block. She sees the block really well and will expose any split left open. Weaber has an aggressive serve and a consistent first contact.
