<p>The high school volleyball season is going at full pace in the state of Texas and during the next four months, hundreds of matches will be played across the Lone Star State until we know the new state champions.</p>

<p>Prep Dig will be covering multiple matches every week and featuring the players that stand out the most for their performances over the course of the season, but we'll also preview some matches that have the potential to be very interesting ones. </p>

<p>Several teams will be playing their first district matches on Friday and some really exciting encounters are set to happen around the Lone Star State. Here's one of them:</p>

<p>The Shadow Creek Lady Sharks from Pearland completed their non-district calendar with 15 wins and 14 losses and won three of their four most recent matches ahead of their district opener. Shadow Creek are set at both the setter and the libero positions with sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='218999' first='Simone' last='Robinson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318194' first='Lauryn' last='Wiley']. Robinson is a left-handed setter with great hands and a crafty game - she has produced 403 assists, 139 digs and 28 aces so far in the season. Wiley is an electric libero, who's already at 188 digs and 157 passes for the season and recently set a new program record for digs in a single match, tallying 38 against Summer Creek. The Lady Sharks lost their main scorer from last season as junior [player_tooltip player_id='212731' first='Mackenzie' last='Collins'] transferred to Episcopal, but have been getting great production from their talented freshman duo of [player_tooltip player_id='459664' first='Tamarria' last='Mitchell'] (outside hitter) and [player_tooltip player_id='534319' first='Aspen' last='Brown'] (right side), who showed up ready to help junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='236818' first='Kelly' last='Kelsick'] offensively.</p>

<p><strong>Pearland</strong></p>

<p>The Pearland Lady Oilers have been in excellent form ahead of their District 23 opener, getting 20 victories in 29 matches. Junior Cora Wolford has been doing an excellent job at setter and is already on the verge of registering her 500th assist in the season - she's currently at 469. Her most frequent target is sophomore outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='254073' first='Avery' last='Koonsen'], who has been leading the Lady Oilers' offense with 262 kills - senior Nadia Dunn has 149. In the middle, junior [player_tooltip player_id='212737' first='Kimanni' last='Rugley'] and senior [player_tooltip player_id='142642' first='Allie' last='Schwartz'] form one of the strongest duos in the region, combining for 246 kills and 160 blocks. Pearland also have a lot of quality on the backcourt with senior libero Mia Ramirez and junior defensive specialist Maddie Dement.</p>
