So, let’s start our post-rankings release coverage with these college-ready gems. Keep these stars on your radar as the recruiting process rolls on for the 2025s. There is a lot of time left to find the right fit!
Pin Hitters
When you’re looking at some of Nebraska’s best juniors at the outside hitter spot, a lot of prominent names immediately emerge.
Abbie Hagedorn Abbie Hagedorn 5'11" | RS Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE is a big one. If you prioritize high-level prep experience, it’s hard to ignore Hagedorn three-year state championship run with Omaha Skutt Catholic. Aside from this incredible team success, Hagedorn has shown the adaptability to play on either pin and is developing some extraordinary backcourt skills. It’s a perfect combination of traits that will translate well to Hagedorn’s 2024 club team: Nebraska ONE 17 Synergy.
Multi-position strength is also a characteristic that has thrust Elle Heckenlively Elle Heckenlively 5'10" | OH Gretna | 2025 State NE into the spotlight. She started her career as a middle blocker but has made the smooth transition to the left in both high school and club. Heckenlively’s uncanny ability to terminate on tough swings makes her a natural fit for the pins.
As we keep moving down the list of pin hitters, under-the-radar talents like Chloe Livingston Chloe Livingston 5'7" | OH Papillion-La Vista South | 2025 State NE and Abbie Apfel Abbie Apfel 5'10" | OH Lincoln Southwest | 2025 State NE come into focus. This pair uses pure athleticism to their advantage and can tool the block with great efficiency. The upcoming club season will be huge.
Other uncommitted left-side hitters have already shown that they can put up monster numbers on the high school side. Halle Kerkman Halle Kerkman 6'0" | OH Millard West | 2025 State NE made a massive impact when she was in the Millard West lineup. Few players in Class B kept pace with Crete’s Sierra Crist, and Brandi Helzer Brandi Helzer 5'10" | OH Oakland-Craig | 2025 State NE logged another stat-stuffing campaign with Oakland-Craig.
Right-side hitters are represented among the top 2025 pins, too. Kendall Cose Kendall Cose 6'0" | RS Norris | 2025 State NE just wrapped up an impactful prep season with Norris and will make her debut with VCNebraska in the spring. Kacey Porter Kacey Porter 5'8" | RS Lincoln Southeast | 2025 State NE and Gabi Hern Gabi Hern 5'10" | RS Omaha Marian | 2025 State NE are a couple more under-the-radar names we’ll be watching in 2024.
Middle Blockers
Our top two middles in the 2025 class are committed, but we have a wide array of talent after that.
Annie Gleason Annie Gleason 5'11" | MB Beatrice | 2025 State NE stands out as a hard-hitting middle blocker who has made her mark with Beatrice and Nebraska Juniors. Her high hitting efficiencies have attracted a lot of attention, and that termination can be attributed to the heavy heat Gleason puts behind the ball.
Lexi Hasselbalch Lexi Hasselbalch 5'10" | MB Norris | 2025 State NE remains one of the strongest slide hitters in Nebraska’s 2025 class. We’re excited to see how the Norris product continues her development with Nebraska ONE 17 Synergy, a group that can contend for an Open crown this season. Hasselbalch’s impact doesn’t stop in the frontcourt, either, as she’s a middle blocker who can hold her ground in the back row during her serving rotation. This is an ideal ‘M1’ athlete.
The Omaha area gets more middle blockers on the board with Rilyn Gish Rilyn Gish 5'10" | MB Millard North | 2025 State NE and Kiera Link Kiera Link 6'1" | MB Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE joining the fray. Link was part of the aforementioned Skutt Catholic championship, during which the junior middle blocker shut down opposing offenses along the net. Gish, meanwhile, has shown some flexibility as a pin attacker in addition to her background as a middle. How will the narrative evolve in 2024?
Setters
So many setters are available in this 2025 class. Our run of commitments is coming eventually.
Perhaps Charlee Solomon Charlee Solomon 5'9" | S Papillion-La Vista South | 2025 State NE will be one of the first in line. We had so much fun documenting Solomon’s game-changing 2023 calendar year, which started with Premier Nebraska and finished with Papillion-La Vista South. This was Solomon’s time to prove that she could run a one-setter offense and compete at the highest level. Keep climbing in 2024.
Isabel Campie Isabel Campie 5'7" | S Omaha Marian | 2025 State NE , who teamed with Solomon at Premier Nebraska, is another fascinating athlete to follow in this setter group. She quickly took the reins at Omaha Marian when she arrived as a freshman, putting her on our 2025 radar right away. Not only can Campie dish the ball with great consistency, but she locks down her floor defense assignments, too.
So many of these setters are playing their best volleyball right now. Adi Rennerfeldt Adi Rennerfeldt 5'7" | S Oakland-Craig | 2025 State NE led Oakland-Craig to a third consecutive state tournament appearance. Brylee Nelsen Brylee Nelsen 5'9" | S Millard North | 2025 State NE is guiding a Millard North resurgence, and Meghan Anderson Meghan Anderson 5'11" | S Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE is keeping Skutt Catholic on top alongside fellow junior setter Brooke Banker Brooke Banker 5'3" | S Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2025 State NE .
Two more rapid stock risers deserve mention, too: Jillian Donovan Jillian Donovan 5'11" | S Lincoln Lutheran | 2025 State NE and Nyah Potthoff Nyah Potthoff 5'8" | S Gretna East | 2025 State NE . Not many 2025s have climbed the ladder faster than these two. Donovan’s big triumph was another state championship with Lincoln Lutheran–this time as the team’s starting setter. Potthoff made the move to Gretna East and led the Griffins to a state tournament berth in the school’s first-ever season.
Defensive Specialists
Finally, the liberos. Nebraska knows how to churn out some good ones.
Isabel Junior Isabel Junior 5'8" | DS/L Elkhorn South | 2025 State NE is one of several Nebraska Elite 2025s who are impressing us in the backcourt. Her leadership skills were apparent with Elkhorn South this fall, and more of the same should be expected in 2024.
Put Melody Mayer Melody Mayer 5'7" | DS/L Omaha Marian | 2025 State NE in this Nebraska Elite category. The Omaha Marian libero piled up some impressive stats while competing against Class A’s best offenses. That’s never an easy feat.
We could put Zoe Rademacher Zoe Rademacher 5'6" | DS/L Norris | 2025 State NE in this group, though she has earned a lot of outside hitter reps lately. She will be making the switch to VCNebraska for the club season, so keep tabs on where Rademacher plays throughout the year. It could be a medley of positions.
A small-town shoutout is warranted to Reagan Ashby Reagan Ashby 5'5" | DS/L Aurora | 2025 State NE , who has been Aurora’s unquestioned focal point for the past couple of seasons. Nebraska Juniors has also put Ashby’s defensive prowess on display.
Under-the-radar names are everywhere. Gabby Lund Gabby Lund 5'7" | DS/L Gretna East | 2025 State NE and Georgia Sinnet have been an effective combo in the Premier Nebraska gym. We’ll also be watching Harper Gable Harper Gable 5'10" | DS/L Norris | 2025 State NE ‘s role with Nebraska ONE . And don’t forget about Maya Porter Maya Porter 5'4" | DS/L Bellevue West | 2025 State NE , who has been a top performer on the Prep Dig Circuit and will carry the torch for River City Jrs .
