When updating our rankings, we have a chance to scout hundreds of athletes in Oregon. With this comes watching hours upon hours of film, and we always make note of players who impress us. Some of these athletes don’t move up in the rankings significantly enough to warrant a spot in our “Stock Risers” series. Some of these athletes are more under-the-radar recruits we anticipate will make significant strides in their game. Whatever the scenario, we still feel these athletes mentioned below deserve an opportunity to be spotlighted on our site, which is why they have been coined an ‘emerging star.’ They are poised to make major headway and see a significant amount of court time this club season. And all are worthy to be on your list to watch out for.
Brewer’s rapid improvement to her game over the past year has been impressive to watch. Joining NPJ Portland 17-1 National this club season, I am eager to see her compete at a more elite level. The six-foot middle blocker relies on her quick arm swing and aggressive snap on the ball to rack up kills. When running a quick, she showcases a versatile attack by swinging to both the left and right sides of the court.

Comer had a breakout junior season as the starting libero for Oregon City, leading the team to a second-place finish in the 6A State tournament. She is a speedy defender and does a good job tracking and reading the ball to make a successful dig. Comer also plays with infectious positive energy and always hypes her teammates up.
Crawford had a standout junior season, setting a 5-1 for Pleasant Hill, receiving Mountain Valley First Team All-League and 3A First Team All-State honors. She exhibits athletic footwork and a soft touch on the ball. Also, her defense protecting right back is impressive. Making the Webfoot 18-1 Elite team this club season, I anticipate she will be splitting setting duties running a 6-2 with Alyssa Lewey Alyssa Lewey 6’0″ | S Sheldon | 2024 State OR .

She is incredibly dynamic and athletic. With an explosive approach and impressive leaping abilities, she turns the ball into the court with a fast swing.

Jung has returned from injury like she never left. Having to sit out a good chunk of high school season, she has taken the reigns as the primary libero for OJVA 17-1 Gold. She showcases great defensive quickness and range on defense, keeping a controlled platform on tough swings.
Kayfes was a dominant attacker for Valley Catholic this past high school season, receiving Lewis and Clark First Team All-League. Transitioning between the middle and the outside depending on the team’s needs, she showcased her versatility. However, this club season, with Athena 17-1 Gold, she will be playing on the pin. She makes for a lethal attacker with some serious hang time, a quick arm, and great attacking range. She has also made great improvements to her backrow play and is well on her way to becoming a complete six-rotation outside hitter.
Knight, a Mt. Hood First Team All-League selection for her play in the middle for Barlow High School, is taking on a new position this club season for NW Elite 18-1. Transitioning to the outside, she has quickly adapted to this new role. With a high reach on the ball, she does a good job finding the open court to score. At 6’1”, her recruiting ceiling as a pin hitter is high.

A Mid-Willamette First Team All-League recipient, Schnell is a dynamic and athletic setter. Aging up to the 18s division, she is poised to take on a large role for G3 18-1 as their returning setter. She does a good job establishing middles early on in the match and continues to feed them the ball.
