What 2027s Are Bound To Breakout in 2025?

Practices have started, the club season is heating up.  For these athletes in the Class of 2027, they will be gearing up for what can be a promising year in the recruiting world as they can officially start talking to college coaches June 15, 2025.  Some of these athletes are on the radar, others will be new names heading into the season.  Take a look at some 2027s from Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/12/IMG_9290.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-731495" style="width:407px;height:auto"/><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">[player_tooltip player_id='376270' first='Ashley' last='Ray']</figcaption></figure>    You won't find [player_tooltip player_id='376270' first='Ashley' last='Ray'] with the other 2027s on the 16s courts because she is up playing with the [program_tooltip program_id='431479' first='Wisconsin' last='Juniors'] 17-1 squad. She is one of the top liberos in Southeast Wisconsin and demonstrates great athleticism in the back court. She attends a small high school in Western Wisconsin in Blair-Taylor, but her game is big time. She is a 6'1 left handed right side with a heavy swing. The opposing side has a tough time keeping her ball in system even with a clean touch. She is a big time matchup problem for opposing teams with her block and swing.       Get ready to know [player_tooltip player_id='510430' first='Erin' last='O'Connor'] out of De Pere who will be playing for [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 16 Navy. She had a big high school season at De Pere where she was able to play out of the middle and outside. She will most likely see time out of the middle where her athleticism allows her to get from pin to pin and transition to hit a variety of tempos in front and behind the setter. Her ceiling is real high where her development will be exciting to see over the next couple of seasons.       [player_tooltip player_id='435880' first='Analise' last='Coon'] will be a key player for the Spiketown 16s this upcoming season where she is another libero who can command the backrow. She can handle a high volume of serve receive and can take pace off a hard swing. She comes from a big volleyball family where her older sister [player_tooltip player_id='221473' first='Lexi' last='Coon'] is a setter on the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh volleyball team. Coon definitely has college promise and is one to have on the radar for this 2025 season.       [player_tooltip player_id='435884' first='Bridget' last='Frye'] had a breakout season for Mosinee this fall where she was named Player of the Year in the Great Northern League and earned All State honors. She has great court awareness from the pin, knowing when to swing big, tip, use the block, and what angle to take her swing. She has been part of winning teams and will look to take that to the next level for her high school and club teams. Fast forward to her sophomore year at the state tournament and her poise and IQ was so mature for a sophomore. I saw her finding the deep corner for kills, using the block for kills, and was able to slice and dice the defense for Cedar Falls. [player_tooltip player_id='730462' first='Liv' last='Davis'] will be one to watch from the setter position where she will play at Iowa Impact in their second year as being a club. She was a setter for the Waukee state team where she averaged nearly eight assists per set. Her command in the front and backrow is mature for the 16s level where she will definitely elevate the play of those around her. Should be an exciting season for Iowa Impact.       There's another Meester ready to take off. [player_tooltip player_id='555712' first='Sophia' last='Meester'] had a breakout sophomore season for Mount Vernon en route to a Class 3A state title. She racked up nearly 200 kills on the season where she provided great balance for a high powered Mustang offense. Klein is length, athleticism, and plenty of strength that allows her to score points from the outside, but is a threat to respect anywhere on the court. She led the Maroons with over 300 kills this past high school season and will be a welcomed addition to Roots who played in the final eight of the Gold Bracket of 15 Open at AAU Nationals this past summer.     I was able to see [player_tooltip player_id='586689' first='Lexi' last='Van Eekeren'] for 1st Alliance 15 Silver last season where she was a dual threat athlete, scoring points off her and setting her teammates up for success. She plays with great court savvy and a high IQ. A steady and dependable libero, Fleegle brings consistency to the backrow where she is going to put the first contact on the nose for her setter. She had a successful high school season at Libertyville, earning All State Honors. She is definitely one to have on the radar this 2025 club season.       Ohlau comes out of Edwardsville High School where she is a high flying pin. She had a breakout season this past fall earning All State honors. She has a complete all around game being solid in serve receive, passing, scoring points out of the backrow, and knows how to score in multiple ways. She has played for HP Illinois National where she will be part of the 16 National team with other top Southern Illinois athletes this 2025 club season.       Grevengoed will be suiting up for Michio Chicago this year where this 16s team was fun to watch last club season. They have plenty of balance and terminal attackers who can cause havoc on the other side of the net. Grevengoed earned All State honors as a sophomore for Chicago Christian, a long line of Grevengoed sisters who have seen success on the volleyball hardwood. She is the type of outside hitter who doesn't need a perfect set to terminate. She is so tough out of system and can make something happen out of nothing. This will be an exciting season for her and the Michio squad.
