One of the most anticipated tournaments at the beginning of each club season is the Triple Crown NIT because of all of the talent that will be under one roof. It will be held in Kansas City, MO on February 14-17th. I will be covering this tournament in person once again and can't wait for the matchups. There are tons of players and teams to watch out for. Let's “Dig” in to find out who they are.

What TX Power Pool Teams Will Be Contending For a Championship?

There are three Texas squads in Power Pool A and they all have what it takes to be in contention for a title. We have covered these usual suspects many times before but there is a reason for it…they are that good! TAV 17 Black Jon has one of the toughest squads with top recruits all throughout their lineup. Their two setters [player_tooltip player_id='300846' first='Danielle' last='Whitmire'] and [player_tooltip player_id='253969' first='Anna' last='Flores'] can flat out dish the rock! They have a lot of weapons to deliver to. Armed with powerhouse middles like Kinsely Young and [player_tooltip player_id='254160' first='Hannah' last='Lee'] who have high motors and play both ways at an elite level, it is easy to see why they have been dominant so far this year. They are coming off of a huge 1st place finish at the Tour of Texas stop #2 in Austin and look to ride that wave in Kansas City. I think they have a legit shot with outstanding outside hitters like [player_tooltip player_id='318202' first='Layla' last='Austin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='320954' first='Kylie' last='Kleckner'].

Dallas Skyline and their high powered offense should be worried about by everyone who is matched up with them. They have players who are match up nightmares one on one. Legendary club coach Ping Cao will have his team firing on all cylinders for this star studded event. For years now, this squad has been stepping up when the lights shine the brightest and it has come to be expected of them when they step on the court. Superstar setter [player_tooltip player_id='241932' first='Madison' last='Victoriano'] knows exactly what to do with the ball in hands. Feeding [player_tooltip player_id='318137' first='Keoni' last='Williams'], [player_tooltip player_id='452239' first='Taylor' last='Clarke'], [player_tooltip player_id='253981' first='Ashlyn' last='Seay'] and [player_tooltip player_id='254302' first='Skylar' last='Jackson'] is priority number one. These young ladies can fly and pound the ball into the ground if you give them a seam.

Austin Skyline will battle with anyone who tries them. They are battle tested and not afraid to scrap. Their talented squad is a load for any team to handle. [player_tooltip player_id='318127' first='Henley' last='Anderson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318198' first='Riley' last='Malloy'] can match up with any pins in the country. Super libero [player_tooltip player_id='306916' first='Rileigh' last='Butler'] and stud setters [player_tooltip player_id='434231' first='Maggie' last='McCarroll'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318200' first='Ava' last='Carrasquillo'] are all ready to contribute. The “X-Factor” for me is [player_tooltip player_id='318132' first='Joy' last='Udoye'] who is playing with her true age group this year and has power for days. They can move a lot of these pieces around to different positions at times to create some match up problems. If they get going, they will be tough to stop.

What Non-Power Pool Teams Could Sneak Up On People?

TAV 17 Black Haroun is making some noise and could sneak up on people. Setters [player_tooltip player_id='253966' first='Allison' last='Tredwell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='328270' first='Paige' last='Hawkinson'] really know how to lead their team on offense. Kyler Birklebach has tons of open level experience to help this squad in tough matches. [player_tooltip player_id='452248' first='Reese' last='Poerner'] is steady on the left side for them along with some other top players on their roster. We will be watching them closely to see if they can put it all together when it counts.

Who are the big time players who will be having a huge impact on the tournament?

Names like [player_tooltip player_id='318145' first='Jaylyn' last='Tuiasosopo'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318131' first='Paisley' last='Pavliska'] will draw a lot of attention for STVA 17 Mizuno and for good reason. Both young ladies are extremely athletic and have mad hops on the left side. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='318204' first='Alexis' last='Dahl'] will make a huge impact also for them. Stud outside hitters [player_tooltip player_id='197468' first='Jayden' last='Robinson'] and Halley Thompson will be super impactful players for [program_tooltip program_id='510661' first='Houston' last='Skyline'] 17 Royal. They might be the scariest duo of attackers to be on one roster. Both of them can score in bunches if they get hot. Libero Henlee Moszkowicz is one of those back row studs who should not be tested by opposing servers. My advice is do not serve her. She will pass it in system every single time. These are just a few names that can individually take over portions of games and give their teams a winning recipe.
