I will end the club season with my awards for each of the age groups 14-17 Jeremy Strain also helped in the selection process. This is for the 14U group. Players ranked under this age category do not necessarily belong to the class of 2029. After these award posts are issued the high school reporting will begin.

Top Player (MVP)

It was difficult to decide between the two. They are both setters/right sides who led their team to the Open category in Junior Nationals. It would not surprise me to see both start for their high school teams. [player_tooltip player_id='622282' first='Emerson' last='Wolfe'] received some strong consideration as well.

co - MVPs - [player_tooltip player_id='746506' first='Carolyn' last='Maria'] (Metro) and [player_tooltip player_id='748513' first='Scarlett' last='Netherton'] (Maryland Juniors)

Her sister Grace Maria went to Bishop O'Connell leading the Knights to a WCAC title as a left side hitter. Don't be surprised to see Carolyn setting and hitting right side for the Knights this coming season.

For the Metro 14 team she was perhaps their top pin hitter as a right side. At this point her hitting ranks superior to her older sister Grace when she first came to O'Connell as a sophomore. With age will bring physical strength which should create more velocity on a ball that is already hit pretty hard. This also applies to her setting as well. Her hands are good, but maturity and repetition should make her decisions better. It will also improve her consistency in location as a setter, although that currently stands out as pretty good.

[player_tooltip player_id='748513' first='Scarlett' last='Netherton'] (Maryland Juniors) - She will attend Atholton this coming season. At 5'9" her height would not force you to take notice. However, when she hits the ball it finds the floor pretty fast, especially when she turns it down the line. She also seems to exhibit a pretty high IQ at this age with her roll shots for a little change of pace. Defenses have noted her hard driven balls and are usually on their heels when Scarlett is ready to tee off. That little roll shot usually finds an empty area of the court.

Her setting could still need some work with the consistency in location. Sometimes she has a tendency to push the ball too far outside. More repetition should correct that fault. Her outside hittersr [player_tooltip player_id='622282' first='Emerson' last='Wolfe'] and [player_tooltip player_id='748487' first='Sierra' last='Thomas'] were also given strong consideration for MVP.

Most Surprising Player

All of the U14s could fall in this category since I have not seen any of them play until this year. However, [player_tooltip player_id='762823' first='Brie' last='Mouton'] certainly impressed with Bay Area Volleyball Academy. I never expected such an accomplished setter from a club that lacked familiarity.

My first exposure to her was when I saw her setting for Bay Area Volleyball Academy at the Chesapeake Regionals. She also won a top performer award at the Prep Dig frosh showcase. In each event she stood out as one of the best at her position

She sets a 5/1 for BAVA. She does not show a lot of height yet, but she does have a good jump. At Junior Nationals, when a ball was passed tight to the net she jumped high over the net for a redirect kill. The maturity is there to run an offense. Her location is consistent while the touch is also there to run the quick tempo sets. She also exhibits a cool and calm demeanor when on the court. She does not seem to allow adversity to impact her.

Brie will attend Annapolis Area Christian School. They already have a couple talented sisters on their roster.

Bay Area Volleyball Academy (BAVA) - My first exposure to them was at the Chesapeake Bid Regional Championships where they ranked high enough to qualify for participation in the event. Not only did they participate but they earned a bid to Junior Nationals. [player_tooltip player_id='762823' first='Brie' last='Mouton'], who made my all club team as well as most surprising player runs the offense. They have some athletic players in left sides [player_tooltip player_id='763138' first='Avielle' last='Lewis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='787925' first='Camryn' last='Bedell']. They also plug up the middle with the 6'0 [player_tooltip player_id='783307' first='Neely' last='Olish'] A class of 2030 libero Jenna Peterson smothers the back row.
