Notable hitters at Rowan County scrimmages

The one schedule had two Rowan County teams playing Saturday, but Menifee County wound up taking the spot of the second team and Lewis County came in the morning session instead of Montgomery County.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Augusta and Fleming County wound up switching spots. As a result, Fleming County wound up scrimmaging 61st District rivals Bath County and Menifee County in addition to Dayton. Augusta wound up playing 39th District rival Mason County.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A number of the teams got into a good passing rhythm to set up powerful hitters. Brinker has taken some steps in that direction with some nice swings. She forms nice double blocks at the net to help out the defensive specialists. She runs good fakes in the middle on outside sets to draw attention from opposing blockers and makes nice out of system passes. It's a matter of developing consistency. Stamper sent a hard shot to the short corner in one of the games. Stamper makes smooth transitions from defense to offense and had a big block on a 6-2 player. Whitaker hits balls to lines and is not afraid to tip balls over double blocks if the opening is there. Dillow had some nice roll shots and consistently found ways to hit through and around blockers in the middle and the outside.
