Stunning Setters Steal the Show in SoCal

Setters are often called the backbone, or quarterback of the team. They are responsible not only for delivering excellent and precise sets but they also need to adapt to any pass as well as find and connect with each of their hitters. They need to read the defense, figure out how to help a hitter that is struggling, play exceptional defense themselves, and the list goes on and on. Below are some of the stunning setters that did many of those things at the SoCal Exposure Tour. Rossi was a setter that demonstrated excellent control, consistently delivering precise, timely sets that allowed her attackers to terminate routinely. Her fluid movement on the court shows her superb court awareness and composure, enabling her to transition seamlessly to track down balls all over the court and to be instrumental in every play. Overall, her consistent play and astute decision-making made her a key contributor on the court all day.     Speed, hustle, and heart describe Donnelly. Donnelly is a setter that brought versatility and range to the court, using her speed and dexterity on every play. She jump sets with ease, allowing her to run a dynamic, fast tempo offense. Her speed also allows her to track down balls all over the court, keeping plays alive and giving her team scoring opportunities that they likely wouldn't have had. Overall, Donnelly has an energetic and smart player who elevates those on the court with her.     Morgan is a setter that excelled at handling the pesky out of system balls. She did a solid job of maintaining her composure, hustling to get her feet to the ball, and delivered consistent balls to the pin time after time. When is system, she was pushing the tempo, got her middles involved, and effectively distributed the ball to the pins. She was able to create numerous attacking opportunities that generated kills. Her ability to make smart decisions and then execute was on point at the exposure tour.     I had never seen Stringer play before, and was instantly impressed. I was shocked when I discovered she is only a sophomore as she plays at level much higher than her age. She has excellent court awareness and knows how to spread out an offense. She has precise location on her sets, can firmly push the ball out to the pins, and runs a fast tempo that kept her offense on the day powerful and unpredictable. Her accuracy, high setter IQ, and ability to run and maintain control a fast paced offense make her a setter that is going to be highly sought after come recruitment time.     Harper is a young setter with a ton of potential. At the exposure tour, she showed remarkable skill and awareness on the court, particularly when handling tight passes to the net. She expertly turned her body to deliver difficult sets with fluidity and control, something that even the most experienced setters have trouble with from time to time. In addition to her skills, Harper continually showcased good decision making and hustled nonstop to track down passes everywhere on the court to keep balls in play. Her combination of skill, determination, and grit make her a up and coming player to keep tabs on.     Froid stood out as a setter immediately due to her out of system setting. She hustled and moved quickly to reach the ball and delivered clean, accurate sets to her attackers instead of just lofting up a high pass. She approached every play with determination and strove to create opportunities on each play for her attackers. Her setting location was also solid as she was consistent and precise. The combination of speed, determination, and accuracy makes a rising star that should be watched.     Stevens was one most impressive setters on the day (so much so that I didn't get everything printed in my first article on her). She is a sensational lefty setter that has that wicked lefty serve that put pressure on her opponents right from the beginning. She also unloaded those careful disguised lefty setter dumps were not only effective but hard for defenses to read. She also knows how to run an offense and keep all of her attackers involved. Simply put, she is one of those setters that you want on the court as she can do it all.
