The Eagles lost at Lexington Catholic in the first round of the state tournament. Senior triplets [player_tooltip player_id='604595' first='Payton' last='Grigsby'], [player_tooltip player_id='500587' first='Ryann' last='Grigsby'] and [player_tooltip player_id='795190' first='KaLeigh' last='Grigsby'] also made nice contributions. Those four along with [player_tooltip player_id='586599' first='Morgan' last='Justice'] and [player_tooltip player_id='586657' first='Reagan' last='Cummins']. Sophomore libero [player_tooltip player_id='877753' first='Emory' last='Sullivan'] returns along with sophomore hitter [player_tooltip player_id='734852' first='Jacinda' last='Campbell'].</p>

<p>Calvary Christian (24-8) made the first appearance in the region tournament this year with a win over Bishop Brossart in the 37th District semifinals. The Cougars didn't stop there, also winning the first region tournament game in program history. Senior hitter [player_tooltip player_id='533373' first='Anna' last='Hickey'] graduates. However both setters in [player_tooltip player_id='918951' first='Natalia' last='McGlynn'] and Annabel Leach return along with libero [player_tooltip player_id='896714' first='Madison' last='Stelzer'] and defensive specialist Ava Dahler.</p>

<p>George Rogers Clark (22-10) earned the right to host the region tournament by winning the 40th District championship. The Cardinals drove to the region championship for the first time in program history. Sophomore setter [player_tooltip player_id='850203' first='Anna' last='Cooper'] ran the offense well setting up the likes of seniors [player_tooltip player_id='212395' first='Teigh' last='Yeast'], [player_tooltip player_id='807306' first='Serenity' last='Elman'] and sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='776724' first='Brooke' last='Gough'] and [player_tooltip player_id='918961' first='Hollins' last='Pumphrey']. Addison Palmer returns on defense. Defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='795716' first='Kinlee' last='Keltner'] also graduates for the Cardinals.</p>

<p>Bracken County (26-8) set the school record for wins in a season once again and won a third straight 39th District crown. [player_tooltip player_id='212193' first='Macy' last='Lucas'] and [player_tooltip player_id='594471' first='Jordan' last='Ahrens'] had great seasons to conclude their careers along with setter [player_tooltip player_id='595949' first='Baylee' last='Wilson']. Defensive specialists [player_tooltip player_id='600935' first='Makenzie' last='Rudd'] and [player_tooltip player_id='804632' first='Ashley' last='Stafford'] also graduate. [player_tooltip player_id='535232' first='Rees' last='Hargett'] returns at setter with [player_tooltip player_id='805758' first='Isabella' last='Godman'] and Sophia Bachman returning at hitter. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='795859' first='Kyndall' last='Johnson'] also returns at defensive specialist.</p>

<p>Nicholas County (18-6) tied the school record for wins and brought home the first district championship in program history with a thrilling 3-2 (25-27, 25-12, 25-15, 17-25, 15-12) win over Harrison County. The Jackets had only taken one set from the Fillies before this season, but wound up winning two of the three games this season. Hitters [player_tooltip player_id='765664' first='Morgan' last='Broderick'], Kylie Earlywine, setter Mackenzie Davenport and libero [player_tooltip player_id='895514' first='Sadie' last='Vice'] graduate in the spring. However, [player_tooltip player_id='757958' first='Alison' last='Reid'] and hitter Loralee Orazan return next season. Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='896412' first='Danica' last='Amburgey'] and Madelyn Amburgey could step into big roles next season.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Campbell stepped in and made major contributions for the Eagles. She continuously takes sound swings, even after mistakes. Campbell makes simple passes to help Scott jumpstart the offense. Campbell had 138 kills for the Eagles this fall.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">McGlynn's versatility paved a way for Calvary's deep postseason run. McGlynn did a good job reading defenses and setting the right hitters. McGlynn may not overpower opponents, but she does place balls well. McGlynn also makes nice first touches and serves aggressively. McGlynn had 448 assists, 102 aces and 200 digs for the Cougars this past season.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Pumphrey's play in the middle helped the Cardinals go on the deepest run in program history. She has a great technique on her blocking and it helped her stuff solid hitters throughout the season. Pumphrey makes a lot of things happen on ones. She can pound them hard to the back row or off blockers. When defensive specialists back up, Pumphrey lets up and tips balls over blockers to shallow parts of the court. Pumphrey had 113 kills, 20 solo blocks and 36 assisted blocks for the Cardinals this past fall.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Johnson is a reliable defensive specialist for the Bears. Johnson has a good platform, letting her make sound first touches. Johnson can slide both ways then extend her arms to make sound first passes. Johnson only dives after balls if necessary. Johnson had 115 digs for Bracken County this past fall.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Reid (pictured) showed a lot of grit on the court. She remains on an even keel no matter the situation so she can calmly make plays. She does a good job mixing things up. Reid makes sound touches then quickly gets into her secondary position protecting near the net on blocks. Reid also makes a lot of things happen with her serving. Reid had 244 assists, 214 digs and 61 aces for Nicholas County this past fall.</p>
