At some point in their careers, they've been in tight games. While it took all 10 players for the [program_tooltip program_id='481203' first='Northern' last='Kentucky Volleyball Club'] 16-1 Tsunami team to capture the 16 Open crown, it turned into a form of redemption for the four members of the state runner-up Notre Dame Pandas on the team in [player_tooltip player_id='741510' first='Dara' last='Jackson'], [player_tooltip player_id='727131' first='Kaia' last='Tilden'], [player_tooltip player_id='727143' first='Makayla' last='Roose'] and [player_tooltip player_id='741504' first='Emma' last='Redlinger'].

The three St. Henry sophomore players in setter [player_tooltip player_id='612108' first='Madelyn' last='Keipert'], middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id='709517' first='Violet' last='Main'] and libero [player_tooltip player_id='610406' first='Kenadi' last='Sieg'] made the usual contributions. Highlands sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='590644' first='Alexis' last='Steinhauser'] had some big kills from the right side with Harrison sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='776441' first='Regan' last='Oaks'] at outside hitter/defensive specialist and St. Ursula freshman [player_tooltip player_id='582200' first='Lucy' last='Waleskowski'] at setter and outside hitter also making big plays.

Notre Dame led the fifth game of the state championship, 12-7 only to see Assumption come back to win it 17-15. However, the experiences from that game helped 16-1 Tsunami close the third set in a 2-1 (25-22, 21-25, 15-12) victory over Legacy 16-1 Adidas in the 16 Open championship game of the Nike Classic at the Columbus Convention Center.

Tsunami 16-1 finished 3-0 on the final of three days besting [program_tooltip program_id='430852' first='Tri-State' last='Elite'] 16 Blue and [program_tooltip program_id='431827' first='Elevation' last=''] 16 Renfro to win the crown. The team finished 2-1 in Round One, Pool B on Saturday and again on Sunday in Round 2, Power Pool B, but managed to take first place in both pools despite three-way ties at 2-1 in both cases.
Tilden once again displayed her great instincts on balls, yet continued to stay under control. She is composed on the court no matter the situation. Tilden's platform is so strong that balls carom off her arms to setters like ping pong balls. Tilden has lot of fun with her teammates both on the court and the bench. Tilden admitted the third set of the 16 Open championship game brought back memories of the state title game, but the team flipped the script tot he best possible thing that can happen.

Redlinger said she's working on staying out of her head and focusing on the task ahead and it showed in the event. Redlinger has improved on landing her crosses and can angle balls off blocks. Redlinger can even hit balls through blocks for big kills from the middle and pins. Redlinger also used her size well to form sound double blocks.

Timmerman showed why she is receiving significant interest from Atlantic Coast Conference and Big 10 schools. The National Training Development Program invitee has a constant nose for balls. Timmerman tracks down balls in corners and gets to setovers that most defensive specialists do not using her great range. Timmerman is smooth on first touches, giving full effort on each play no matter the outcome.

Pioch flys under the radar some on the loaded m.51 team, but she makes more than her fair share of plays. The lefty uses unique angles to send balls flying to the floor. Pioch angles balls off blocks for big points and forms sound double blocks at the net.
