It's been an exciting ride to the end of the regular season. While a few tournaments remain over the next couple of days, playoff bracket play tips off on Monday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All season, we've tracked the progress through weekly rankings in the state's two largest classes. We've reached the stage where it's your time to prove it on the court. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Before we get underway, let's have fun with rankings one last time. Here are the FINAL Prep Dig Iowa Class 4A Rankings for 2026: </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1T. Assumption</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There was a temptation to bump Assumption from No. 1 after a hiccup against Iowa City High at last week's Bettendorf Tournament. The Knights had handled City in an earlier match, though. And the Little Hawks are ranked in 5A. I still believe the defending Class 3A state champions are as good as any team in 4A. They swept through the MAC with a 9-0 record, and their overall resume impresses. The scary thing is that all of the student-athletes I'm about to mention will be back next year. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='694203' first='Belle' last='Cotton'] has collected 260 kills (.291) and added 180 digs in 77 sets. Freshmen [player_tooltip player_id='877691' first='Piper' last='Peterson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='854516' first='Zoe' last='Cinadr'] have combined for 316 kills, Natalie Depoorter has 654 assists, [player_tooltip player_id='1037650' first='Taylor' last='Camarena'] has 75 kills with 54.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='742600' first='Piper' last='Hodge'] has piled up 395 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1T. Norwalk</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Norwalk moves up one spot this week to finish tied at No. 1 with Assumption. Having seen most of the ranked teams in this class in person or through streaming, the two squads are in a clear tier at the top. Like Assumption, the Warriors faced a challenging schedule and performed well against it. A state championship is well within reach with this group. Junior&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='560368' first='Elle' last='Hatlevig'], a Michigan State commitment, has performed among the state's best, regardless of class, recording 477 kills (.372) in 84 sets. Senior setter&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='493974' first='Hadley' last='Michael']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/hadley-michael-3/"></a> also has been excellent with a team-high in assists (845), the second most blocks (60.0) and the third most digs (176). Embry Dupont,&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='758781' first='Myla' last='Brown'] and&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='730403' first='Delaynee' last='Steele'] have teamed up for 449 kills, and&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='809159' first='Reese' last='Heim']<a href="https://prepdig.com/player/reese-heim-2/"></a> 277 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>3. Western Dubuque</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bobcats move up one spot this week despite going 1-2 in Tuesday's MVC Tournament Championship Bracket. Western Dubuque swept a ranked 5A team in Iowa City High and dropped a pair of 2-1 decisions to squads (Iowa City West and Liberty) ranked even higher in that class. The Bobcats finished second in their division during the regular season and can be considered the third-place finisher in a league with mostly bigger schools. Tuesday was the first time I'd seen them in person. I'm a believer. [player_tooltip player_id='493984' first='Kyla' last='Ramler'] , an Illinois State commitment, has recorded 364 kills (.305), 209 digs and 40.0 blocks in 92 sets. [player_tooltip player_id='987305' first='Ellie' last='Berning'] and [player_tooltip player_id='942755' first='Lauren' last='Walker'] have combined for 369 kills, Gabbie Demmer has 496 digs, and [player_tooltip player_id='748340' first='Lola' last='Quagliano'] and [player_tooltip player_id='744976' first='Sylvia' last='Kruse'] have teamed up for 829 assists.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>4. Clear Creek Amana</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Clippers move up a spot to No. 4 this week after winning another WaMaC Tournament title on Thursday night in Solon. They closed out the regular season with 14 wins in a row and appear to be hitting their stride at the right time. It was expected to take some time after key graduation losses following last season's run to the state semifinals. [player_tooltip player_id='516002' first='Julia' last='Schlarbaum'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493660' first='Bailey' last='Simpson'] have teamed up for 575 kills, both of them hitting above .300 and standing out though six rotations. [player_tooltip player_id='693879' first='Delaney' last='Vaske'] and [player_tooltip player_id='571219' first='Haydin' last='Wauters'] have 248 kills and 70.0 blocks between them, Payton Curtin has 799 assists and [player_tooltip player_id='902716' first='Kendall' last='Ronnfeldt'] has 302 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>5. Sioux Center</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Warriors check in at No. 5 this week. Sioux Center is a difficult team to evaluatre because of how few matches the program plays. Bound showed it with 25 of them on Friday morning. By comparison, Clear Creek Amana had 37. The Warriors have performed well against a challenging schedule and brought back a strong foundation from last year's state championship finalist team. [player_tooltip player_id='816843' first='Maryn' last='Franken'] has collected 269 kills (.320) in 64 sets to go with 180 digs and 38.0 blocks so far this year.&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='841522' first='Adison' last='Brantsen'] added 153 kills and picked up a team-best 193 digs.
