Sierra Canyon did not tiptoe into the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. On Friday, October 23, the No. 2 seed swept No. 7 Marymount 25-23, 25-9, 25-22, and the match felt like a collision course from the first rally. Sierra Canyon players crashed into each other going after every single ball. One hit to the face even sent the ball right back into play. At one point, a player ran off the court and threw a nail over the bench.

Through all of it, senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='338908' first='Lucky' last='Fasavalu'], a Missouri commit, reached 2,000 career assists. She ran the offense with strength and tricks in the middle of a very physical match.

The hitters made it easy to see why. [player_tooltip player_id='888357' first='Kendall' last='Omoruyi'] put on a hitting clinic in the middle, and [player_tooltip player_id='475609' first='McKenna' last='McIntosh'] found power from both the front row and the back row. Marymount pushed back with real moments of its own, including back-to-back aces from [player_tooltip player_id='482032' first='Makenna' last='Barnes'] and a middle matchup that [player_tooltip player_id='1055093' first='Zoe' last='Kirovsky'] refused to back down from.

[player_tooltip player_id='338908' first='Lucky' last='Fasavalu'], a Missouri commit, ran the Sierra Canyon offense like a true smooth operator as she reached 2,000 career assists in a playoff opener. She used her strength to send the ball completely cross court in either direction. At the net she got it done with tricky dumps, and at the service line she kept the pressure on with super fast serves.

Before the match, Lucky said, “This is my last playoff run in high school. Yes I want to have fun but more importantly I want to leave a legacy, make an impact and make memories in this final chapter with no regrets! I want it all!!!” A 2,000 assist milestone in a playoff opener does both. Missouri is getting a setter with strength, deception, and a serve that creates problems. Sierra Canyon hosts Los Alamitos on Tuesday.

In September at the Clash of Champions, I wrote that [player_tooltip player_id='768761' first='Esme' last='Althouse'] plays offense with real confidence and backs it up with a strong serve that puts pressure on the other side immediately. Against Sierra Canyon, she showed it with her feet. Her footwork and speed were excellent, and they got her frame set so the ball went to target. A setter who arrives early to the ball has options, and she used them. Marymount heads to Mira Costa on Tuesday.

[player_tooltip player_id='482032' first='Makenna' last='Barnes'], a Northwestern commit, is ranked No. 17 in California and No. 51 nationally. Makenna brought strong offensive power to the match. She hit a nasty cross court kill in front of the 10 foot line that woo'ed the gym. When she wasn't swinging away, she held the net with a strong block. At one point, she brought the momentum with back to back aces. Friday night was quieter for Makenna overall, but she will battle Mira Costa on Tuesday.

[player_tooltip player_id='474505' first='Raneighla' last='Gonzalez'] was a force in the middle against Marymount. She came up with big blocks and nice presses over the net, and her fast footwork got her set early. On offense, she turned her wrist away from the block on her attacks.

Before the match, Raneighla said, “Getting a touch on EVERY hit, off block touching, being so loud it's distracting to the other side, pulling the blockers to open things up for my pins, being too fast for them to get up on the block like an annoying mosquito they can't swat away.” Raneighla has patiently waited for her time to shine and her game time footwork is making it happen.

[player_tooltip player_id='731707' first='Sofia-Rose' last='Husband'], a sophomore right side, played big on Friday night. I have watched her development, and against Sierra Canyon she knew when to swing and when to place a deep shot. She got momentum started and contributed with big plays.

Before the match, SR said, “My mindset going up against Sierra Canyon's pins is to do my job as an opposite and minimize their offense! I respect them, but I don't fear them.” She executed her game plan flawlessly. Understanding how to play under pressure is a big part of what coaches evaluate on the right side.

Before the match, Eva said, “Back then, I relied mostly on my height and length, but over time I've added better court vision, power, off-speed shots, and learning to tool the block effectively.” Eva is the full package for Tennessee. She played with a high volleyball IQ in her shot selection, and she will bring that same IQ when Sierra Canyon hosts Los Alamitos on Tuesday.

[player_tooltip player_id='513082' first='Brooke' last='Salo'], now a Williams commit, brings the same package every time I watch her play. Brooke Salo is great in serve receive, fast on offense, and always finds a way to get it done. She makes a difference on the court.

In September, I wrote that she finds a way around the block and swings with real follow through, and that her serve found the ace with regularity. Against Sierra Canyon, she showed all of it again. She was an ace server, and at the net she snapped her swing and found holes in the block. When the same strengths show up a month later, it is a habit and not a hot night. Marymount heads to Mira Costa on Tuesday.

Power at the pin is not an accident. It comes from footwork, approach mechanics, and hours spent perfecting a swing long before it ever shows up in a kill. The outside hitters featured here are proof that chasing precision, not just force, is what separates a good attacker from a great one. PrepDig gives you three ways to build on that identity: showcases like UpNext put you in front of real evaluators outside of regular season play, our social media turns performances like these into content coaches and clubs actually see, and our articles start building your name around the habits that matter most at the position.

Below are my game notes, with pregame voices from our preview and past coverage where athletes have shared them. Lucky leads, and the rest are listed alphabetically by last name.

was a force in the middle against Marymount.
Sierra Canyon hosts Los Alamitos on Tuesday.

, a sophomore right side, played big on Friday night.
Understanding how to play under pressure is a big part of what coaches evaluate on the right side.

was hitting at the top of her swing against Marymount, with her mechanics firing on all cylinders. She was able to contribute anytime the ball came to her, and she brought offensive power from both the front row and the back row.
Before the match, McKenna said, “We've put in the work, we trust each other, and we know exactly what we're capable of.” Her swing looked like it. Sierra Canyon hosts Los Alamitos on Tuesday.

Kendall's next clinic comes Tuesday when Sierra Canyon hosts Los Alamitos.

, now a Williams commit, brings the same package every time I watch her play.
Marymount heads to Mira Costa on Tuesday.

has really impressed me with her offensive game at the net. On Friday night against Sierra Canyon, her strength was in serve receive. Her platform was disciplined, and she gave her team more chances to run in-system plays.

📣 Club Coaches & Directors
Outside hitters carry a heavy share of the offense, and the athletes featured here show what it looks like when arm swing, footwork, and approach mechanics are being developed with real intention. Showcases like UpNext give your outsides a chance to be evaluated specifically for those habits, outside of pool play pressure. PrepDig works as an extension of your program at every position, whether that means getting your pin hitters seen or building recognition for the players who carry your offense. Keep your club updated with the California Club Program Database and stay connected to every opportunity we create for exposure.
🎯 College Coaches
This group represents young outside hitters whose approach mechanics, shot-making, and attacking IQ already stand out at the middle school level. 🙏 Parents & Supporters
An outside hitter's power does not appear overnight. It comes from repetition, footwork drills, and a willingness to keep refining a swing long after it already looks good. PrepDig helps you understand that value through events that put her in front of real evaluators and articles that tell her story as a competitor who is still building toward her best game.
