There is a great variety of setters with some lefties, some close to 6’0, and some scrappy defenders. They’ve all got something special and worth checking out!
Rossum is physical, quick, defensive and offensive, no matter where she is on the court. She is a butterfly with a stinger who can adapt to fulfill her team’s needs and can read opposing defenses in order to get the ball to the hot hand. Then sometimes the stinger comes out and she’ll take the ball and drive it home for the point herself. She’s a good size for just about any level program and will be a great addition to any gym.

Hoegh has a way of flying under the radar, but at the same time, able to make everyone around her better. I’ve only seen her in a 6’2 with Olivia Wagner Olivia Wagner 6’0″ | S Lakeville South | 2025 State MN . When she is in, she makes sure her presence is known by making some big defensive plays. When the first ball doesn’t come her way, she settles in nicely to her assisting role and puts up droolworthy sets.

Wagner can be found running a 6-2 with Hoegh for Northern Lights, but she’s a force running a 5-1 for Lakeville South . I actually think her passers are purposefully putting the ball right on top of the net because Wagner doesn’t lose a joust. Wagner uses her decent height to get to tight passes that not all setters can get their hands on. She makes solid decisions, knows how to get the ball to the hot hand at the best tempo at just the right time, and does a great job pushing the ball all the way out to each of the pins.
Axness is super fun to watch when she gets in a flow. She is quick and athletic with a high-speed tempo set, and she is a scrappy defender to go with it. But the most entertaining piece is the competitiveness Axness plays with. She will be 100% the passionate leader of her team.
Jaynes is newer on my radar, but after watching her on NL 15 Black, she moves really smoothly and does a great job making the players around her better. I wasn’t surprised when she earned a 2022 AAU All Star recognition in the 15 Club Division. Northfield plays in a tough section with the likes of Lakeville North and Rochester Mayo, making Jayne’s role that much more crucial.
