Cronen (pictured) has turned into a solid all-around player for 16 Black. Her athleticism and strength played a big role in the 16 Open runner-up finish at the Bluegrass Invitational last weekend. Cronen has a good wrist snap to make sure the ball takes a downward trajectory to the floor. Cronen also does a good job hustling on defense. She’s made some pancake digs during club season. She lunges for balls, yet stays under control.

Cronen is not someone you forget once you’ve seen her play. She dominates in many different ways mainly with her offense in the front row and her defense in the back row. Cronen pounds balls down the lines and on crosses from the middle and both pins. She also possesses great instincts on defense, reacting quickly to balls to keep plays alive. Cronen also has a great jump serve.

Not enough can be said of Cronen’s versatility. Cronen takes a lot of good swings, but can step into the libero position for the Jaguars if needed. She does not rush things on her swings, often putting the right amount of power on swings to put balls through or off blocks for big points. Cronen makes crisp passes then quickly transitions to offense. Cronen also produces with her serving consistently keeping opponents out of rhythm.

Cronen (pictured) had a monster national tournament and hopes for big things for the Jaguars this fall. Cronen sets up well then takes a strong approach toward the net with an outstanding follow-through. Cronen makes things happen out of system and can pound balls from all six spots in the back. She reads defenses well then makes any necessary adjustments in the air including putting balls off blockers.

Cronen was already tough on the go routes during her freshman season, but has found ways to become tougher during club season. Cronen makes crip passes then quickly transitions to offense. She puts great power into balls and mixes in softer hits to land between defenders. Cronen has shown she can angle balls off blockers. Cronen does not hesitate to use her left hand when needed to give defenses something extra to consider.

Cronen is truly one to watch these next three years with her versatility and athleticism. Cronen takes great steps into hits and can take swings from all six positions on the court. Cronen makes sound passes then quickly switches gears to offense, where she finds different ways to land balls. Cronen has also found a good serving rhythm for the Jaguars. Cronen had 324 digs, 173 kills and 47 aces, helping Mercy go 28-15, win back the 24th District crown and win the 6th Region to make a 44th straight state tournament appearance finishing state runner-up.
