What a way to kick it off.

Here we go. Finally, it's opening day at USAV Nationals in Indianapolis. Our coverage spotlight leads off with the 15s in the first wave, and we couldn't think of a better way to usher in some postseason calamity. The 15U age group seldom goes as expected at GJNC.

That's the kind of backdrop that could yield some Great Plains Region triumphs. Last year's 15s delivered plenty of compelling GJNC storylines, including a division title and multiple deep runs. The 2026 crew could produce similar results, and the journey starts here.

Day 1 pool play sets the tone. These Thursday duels will reveal a lot about Nebraska's readiness to shake up the championship picture against the nation's best. And, of course, we'll have plenty of players to highlight, too.

Premier Nebraska 15 Gold vs. 1st Alliance 15 Gold

It's a classic Midwest battle in America's heartland.

Last year's Premier Nebraska 15 Gold lineup set a high bar by claiming the 15 USA title at GJNC. The 2026 crew claimed its spot in the Open field, but the podium expectations remain.

We've highlighted this team's versatility and lineup adaptability throughout the spring season. It's rare for a single club team to have a pair of do-everything setters like [player_tooltip player_id='846878' first='Maci' last='Falcone'] and [player_tooltip player_id='847923' first='Andie' last='Blomenkamp']. You also have to find ways to wield the lethal opposite duo of [player_tooltip player_id='775763' first='Fallyn' last='O'Connell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='918755' first='Kenli' last='Donner'].

15 Gold will find a way, and it starts against another 15 Gold lineup from the Great Lakes Region. 1st Alliance is always a tough opening-round draw.

Nebraska Elite 15 Apex vs. Dynasty 15 Black

This is a border battle to behold.

Nebraska Elite 15 Apex will be eager to back up its at-large selection in GJNC's prestigious 15 Open division. We've hyped up this team's enviable lineup of frontcourt terminators, led by Dilynn Myler, [player_tooltip player_id='904781' first='Hensley' last='Harlan'], and [player_tooltip player_id='912025' first='Aureylia' last='Ahlmann']. That should provide plenty of options for [player_tooltip player_id='765196' first='Sofia' last='Meister'] to spread the ball around.

And what better Day 1 test than the top seed in the pool? Dynasty 15 Black is on a late-season heater after hoisting the Show Me Qualifier crown. But this is a new venue and a new phase of the 2026 journey. Anything can happen.

[program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Elite vs. BCS Skyline H 15 Royal

Speaking of Show Me champions, our next visit is with [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Elite.

This group was seeded about midway through its 15 USA pool, but we might as well throw seeds out the window in this division. We have underdogs, Open-level teams, and everything in between.

15 Elite's success cannot be attributed to a single position. In fact, players like [player_tooltip player_id='932964' first='Brooke' last='Bosshamer'], [player_tooltip player_id='933037' first='Charlee' last='O'Bannon'], and [player_tooltip player_id='932956' first='Brilynn' last='Perrine'] have been willing to move around the dial from match to match. [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] thrives off of shuffling the deck and maintaining a high level of play in the meantime.

We'll see which hand is deployed against BCS Skyline of the Lone Star Region.

Club Legacy 15 Alpha vs. Heat 15 Elite

One championship climb deserves another, right?

Club Legacy 15 Alpha could have held its head after a collection of close losses at the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Instead, the team promptly traveled to Salt Lake City and claimed the weekend's 15 Liberty crown to secure a GJNC berth.

The core group of Madison O'Neil, [player_tooltip player_id='932974' first='Josie' last='Peatrowsky'], and [player_tooltip player_id='961100' first='Ellie' last='Dahlhauser'] continues to run the show for 15 Alpha. Expectations are peaking, as evidenced by a second-overall seed in Pool 1. Club Legacy's seeding "neighbor," Heat 15 Elite, looms large on the Thursday slate.

Premier Nebraska 15 Black vs. MKE Sting 15 Black

We're about to see the full armada of Premier Nebraska 15s in the Circle City.

Premier Nebraska 15 Black is next into the fray. Similar to 15 USA, GJNC's 15 National division usually features several Open-level contenders and teams with elite experience on the qualifier stage. That should be no problem for 15 Black, which tested its mettle at Triple Crown NIT, among other venues.

We're looking for dynamic athletes like [player_tooltip player_id='790348' first='Kyla' last='Gangwish'], [player_tooltip player_id='933046' first='Lydia' last='Busch'], and [player_tooltip player_id='932963' first='Evie' last='Bruck'] to take over at the tape. This should lead to some thrilling contests in Indy, and the Thursday duel with MKE Sting has that "feel" to it.

Premier Nebraska 15 Silver vs. NKYVC 15-2 Tide

We couldn't wait to highlight Premier Nebraska 15 Silver, a divisional runner-up at April's Show Me Qualifier. This group has proven it can sustain success through multiple grueling rounds, so GJNC's pool format will be another day in the office.

That should bring out the best in emerging 2029s like [player_tooltip player_id='961006' first='Ari' last='Reed'], [player_tooltip player_id='961012' first='Leyton' last='Michaelis'], and [player_tooltip player_id='933027' first='Madison' last='Wiese']. 15 Silver is well-positioned as the No. 2 seed in its 15 American pool and awaits NKYVC in the Thursday opener.

Premier Nebraska 15 Red vs. Red Rock 15 Chi

Premier Nebraska is doubling up in the 15 American division.

15 Red and 15 Silver will follow parallel paths in the podium hunt, giving us some fascinating storylines to cover over the weekend. 15 Red's trek starts with two Thursday battles, and a match against Red Rock will close out the evening.

The multi-talented contributions of [player_tooltip player_id='960995' first='Isabel' last='Erwin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='888498' first='Mya' last='Langan'] have set 15 Red apart, especially in late-season contests. We also have our eye on how [player_tooltip player_id='960993' first='Tenlei' last='Cole'] commands the libero jersey alongside a sea of other effective defensive specialists on the 15 Red roster.

South Central NE 15 Black vs. WDVB 15-1

If you're looking to watch a lot of volleyball, linger in GJNC's 15 Freedom division for a while.

This group brings dozens of championship hopefuls into the mix, giving us a massive list of pool matchups to follow. South Central NE 15 Black has a whopping seven opening-round matchups to tackle before Round 1 placements are finalized.

So, options abound for this feature. We're rolling with the mid-morning contest against WDVB 15-1 from the Iowa Region, perpetuating our regional theme. 15 Black standouts like [player_tooltip player_id='932957' first='Kinlee' last='Hinton'], [player_tooltip player_id='912949' first='Reese' last='Blauhorn'], and [player_tooltip player_id='893909' first='Ruthie' last='Hanzel'] will be asked to carry a heavy offensive burden through this loaded 15 Freedom slate.

[program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Black vs. VEVA Fury 15-Blue

We're doubling down on the 15 Freedom grind with [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 15 Black.

Another laundry list of opening-round matchups emerges for VCN, which will look to shake up the seedings in Pool 4 of the division. Steady ball control leaders like [player_tooltip player_id='961043' first='Tess' last='Mahan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='933041' first='Alexa' last='Porter'] have found their groove at the right time, leading to balanced contributions from 15 Black's frontcourt.

That distribution will be tested against VEVA Fury, 15 Black's highest-seeded opponent of Day 1's schedule.

What a way to kick it off.
