The second of two members of the Freels clan, Madeline is more known for her M2 abilities, with court vision, a smart and repeatable attacking style, and a high volleyball IQ. With long arms making her look taller than she is, defense comes easy to her, and will slow down a ton of balls for her defenders to fill their own stat sheets with. On the attack, Madeline is a high-and-hard type of two-footed attacker, with a vision that isn’t seen much in this class. Folks north of Evansville might not know her as well, but know this—-it’s REALLY hard to crack a lineup at KiVA, let alone start for one of their top open-level teams.

The second of two Freels (she has a twin sister), Madeline is a middle during club season and an outside during high school season. Although “only” listed as 5’11”, her extra-long arms make her look far taller than she appears. That reach, combined with a high volleyball IQ and ability to attack from anywhere, combine to form one of the better hybrid attackers in this class.

Madeline is a springy and smart middle that is explosive on sets away from the setter. Able to hit multiple tough angles with her attacks, she has the length to make things tough for any opposing blocks. As a defender, Madeline’s length is her strength, and uses her super long arms to press and hold her block well, all without repeatedly hitting the net. Although some might find her undersized, her length, combined with her jumping ability and athleticism, more than makes up for apparent lack of size.
