Well, this was quite a debut. We had been introduced to Douglas’ sharp backcourt skills through the Prep Dig Exposure Tour, but she elevated her game a step further while wearing Skutt Catholic’s contrasting jersey. This freshman star was never rattled by the hard-hitting slugfests that always dominate the Bellevue West Invite. Douglas channeled her defensive instincts and quick feet to spearhead the SkyHawks’ climb to Saturday’s semifinals. Taking over the back row for a volleyball juggernaut is daunting for any athlete, so seeing a freshman carry that role is even more remarkable.

The Douglas name and Omaha Skutt Catholic will soon join forces again. Parkley carries the banner for the Class of 2030 and brought back memories of Paisley Douglas’ tremendous defensive skills with the SkyHawks. The newest Douglas iteration had a strong backcourt presence during team drills and brought infectious energy as soon as positional work began. VCNebraska 13 Elite took full advantage of Douglas’ defensive leadership this spring, leading to some high-profile triumphs at national qualifiers. Expect a few more accolades when Douglas launches her high school career next year.
