20 Athletes From 7 States To Track at Asics Challenge

We're going to zoom in on the Asics Challenge, one of the top high school tournaments in the country hosted by Mother McAuley in Chicago. There are teams from seven states, some being among the top high school teams in the country making the trip.  Take a look at 20 athletes to track this weekend at the Asics Challenge.     Assumption is one of the most prominent high school programs in the country and they will enter the Asics Challenge as the top seed. They play one of the toughest schedules in high school volleyball and their only loss is to Cornerstone Christian out of San Antonio. They have a roster full of next level players and one to watch is [player_tooltip player_id='484323' first='Cheyenne' last='Reyes'] who is averaging 3.6 digs per set and leads the way with aces. She will be heading to Texas State for her next step in her volleyball career. With her first contact, the Rockets can get in system where standout middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id='484326' first='Carle' last='Hooe'] cause damage where she is hitting .476 on the season, she's committed to Bellarmine. They will be the team to beat this weekend in Chicago. Loyola Academy out of Wilmette which is on the North side of Chicago always has a program to be reckoned with. They are carrying a 13-8 record into the Asics Challenge where they will rely on the play of [player_tooltip player_id='529948' first='Karolina' last='Mordasiewicz']. The senior is a Wash U commit and has been playing her club ball at [program_tooltip program_id='431567' first='Adversity' last='']. Her physicality and athleicism is what jumps out right away. She can play out of the middle, but for high school she has been swinging on the outside. With a big swing, she can find the open spot while also using the hands for the tool. Marist is always one of the top teams in Illinois as well as in the conversation for national rankings. This year is no different. They went to the Durango Fall Classic in Vegas this season to compete against some of the best West coast teams and recently went to Fort Wayne, Indiana and defeated the large school champions in a four set thriller at Carroll High School. One of the top settlers in the Class of 2029 to know is [player_tooltip player_id='546846' first='Haven' last='Enselman']. She is dynamic, athletic, and plays with a lot of maturity. She played up on the [program_tooltip program_id='431567' first='Adversity' last=''] 16 Adidas team who qualified for nationals in 16 Open. One of her top targets will be [player_tooltip player_id='479571' first='Maggie' last='Kurpeikis'] who is the top 2027 prospect in Illinois who is committed to Michigan. [player_tooltip player_id='1039920' first='Kalyn' last='Brookbank'] has been soaring up the radar among seniors in Illinois. The Class of 2027 outside hitter gave her verbal to Minnesota last spring after showing plenty of improvement her junior year into her 17s club season. She is springy, lengthy, and can really drop the hammer on her swing. She is putting up big numbers for Barrington High School in the North Chicago suburbs where she is averaging over six kills per set. North Branch, Michigan is 75 miles North of Detroit and will be making the trip to Chicago to compete against some of the best of the Midwest and beyond. This is a team full of youth where they are carrying a 20-7-3 record. One of their key players is Allysse Deshetsky. The sophomore outside hitter may not be the tallest at the net at 5'8, but she's extremely explosive. Her athleticism and IQ allows her to score points anywhere on the court. She is averaging over four kills per set this season. Mother McAuley the host school of the Asics Challenge will have a busy week. Prior to hosting the tournament they will play a match against Assumption out of Louisville tonight. Long standing traditional powers going head to head. One of the top attackers for the Mighty Macs is [player_tooltip player_id='730948' first='Keira' last='McQuillan']. She is an explosive outside hitter who is also really solid in the backrow with her serve receive and defense. She has a wide array of shots and knows how to use her IQ to score points. She was one of the top scorers for 1st Alliance 16 Gold during the 2026 club season and has committed to play volleyball at UCONN. I was able to watch New Trier out of Winnetka, Illinois at the Charger Challenge held at the [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] Center a couple of weeks ago. They competed against some of the top teams out of Wisconsin. One of the key players for the Trevians is [player_tooltip player_id='530741' first='Kate' last='Andersons']. The six rotation outside is so consistent, solid, she is well rounded in her skill set where she can do a little bit of everything from passing, defending, attacking, and making the ball better. She will be key for New Trier who will be in a pool with McAuley and Xavier (IA). Xavier will be making the trip out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa to the Asics Challenge where they are accustomed to high level competition, going head to head with some of the top large schools in Iowa. A name to know for the Saints would be Delaney Joens who is only a freshman leads the team with 168 kills on the season and is second on the team in blocks and digs. She is impacting the game in multiple areas with a very high ceiling in multiple sports. What a unique talent in [player_tooltip player_id='545505' first='Tegan' last='Loechler']. At 6'3, she has the length and athleticism, but also plenty of finesse - yet power in her game where she is a setter/attacker combo player for one of the top teams out of Wisconsin. Divine Savior Holy Angels out of Milwaukee won back to back to back state titles before finishing as runner ups in 2025. They are full of elite juniors and have some exciting freshmen and sophomores as well. Loecher will be heading to Louisville where she is also joined by D1 commits in [player_tooltip player_id='587062' first='Harper' last='Wendlick'] (Xavier, [player_tooltip player_id='545524' first='Brooke' last='Umbarger'] (Bowling Green) and [player_tooltip player_id='545501' first='Marley' last='Connor'] (Radford). Huntley is always a program to know at the Asics Challenge coming out of the North suburbs of Chicago. They have produced plenty of high powered college level athletes. One to watch this weekend would be [player_tooltip player_id='746644' first='Lucy' last='Watson']. At 6'3, Watson provides quite a block where she leads the team it total blocks and is also hitting a team high .364. She plays her club ball for [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] and has given her verbal to play D2 volleyball in Florida at Palm Beach Atlantic. Joliet Catholic is another program who brings plenty of history into the Asics Challenge. A player to know for the Angels will be Maddie Samolis. She's had success playing for club for 1st Alliance while also being a key player for JC where she can score points and defend. She has given her verbal to play close to home at Bradley University. Mercy out of the Detroit suburbs will be heading to the Asics Challenge as one of the top teams out of Michigan. I feel like this is relatively new for Michigan schools to be traveling out of state (and its great to see). Mercy has some elite players on their roster starting with Kate Kalczynski who is one of the top 2027 outsides in the country, she is committed to Penn State. They also have one of the top middle blockers out of 2028 in Stanford commit McKenzie Andrews. Keep tabs on one of the top setters in all of 2029 in Kaelyn Easton who has played for the USA Youth National teams. Downers Grove North will be bringing in an athletic squad to the Asics Challenge where their offense is led by setter [player_tooltip player_id='522626' first='Ellery' last='Cabaj']. She recently played on the 1st Alliance 16 Gold team where she can do a little bit of everything, but is running the show as a setter for DGN. She just glides to the ball, she makes difficult plays look easy, and brings up the level of play on her side of the net. One attacker that she is going to look to is [player_tooltip player_id='827808' first='Sienna' last='Shelton'], the Clarion University commit out of the middle who can score from multiple spots and tempos. One of the top 2028s in Illinois will be suiting up for Lincoln Way East in [player_tooltip player_id='582261' first='Kolby' last='Ross']. The six rotation outside hitter is a high flyer who is currently averaging five kills per set. She played for the [program_tooltip program_id='431567' first='Adversity' last=''] 16 Adidas team who qualified for the 16 Open nationals this past club season. She gave her verbal commit to play for Illinois where her athleticism will be welcomed in the Big Ten. When she is on the court, there is always a chance for this team to score points. Sussex Hamilton makes the trip to Mother McAuley as the defending large school D1 state champions in Wisconsin. The suburban Milwaukee squad has quite the crew of 2029s who do a majority of the scoring for the Chargers. [player_tooltip player_id='734111' first='Claire' last='Baldwin'] is one of the top sophomores in the state of Wisconsin and does a little bit of everything from defending, serve receiving, and is able to score effectively from the outside and right side. This past year she played up an age group for [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] 16Gold where they were a top ten team in the country. Papillion-LaVista will be making the trip from the Omaha area to the Asics Challenge where they are currently ranked 6th in the large school division of Nebraska. The Omaha area for high school volleyball is extremely deep with talent. An athlete to watch is Faith Wiechman who is committed to Missouri Western State, a top D2 program. She is currently leading the team averaging over three kills per set while having an efficiency of .395. Also, keep tabs on freshman Ella Wiechman who has nearly 70 total blocks on the season. The First Academy Royals out of Orlando, Florida will be making their way to the Windy City for the Asics Challenge. They will look to Thayna Da Rosa to score points where she is averaging 4.5 kills per set. She has verbally committed to play Division 1 volleyball at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. They currently have a 14-2 record in the 2026 season. Notre Dame Academy out of Park Hill, KY in the Cincinnati area will make their annual trip to Chicago for the Asics Challenge. Prior to the tournament they will take on one of the top Illinois programs in Marist tonight. One of the top players in Kentucky in the Class of 2027 is [player_tooltip player_id='484250' first='Teagan' last='Kondik'] who averages nearly four kills per set. She plays her club ball for NKYVC and will be staying close to home and playing for Cincinnati who has picked up some key local groups. Skutt Catholic out of Omaha is back! This is a traditional power in Nebraska who always makes the trip to Chicago to play Benet Academy tonight and will take on the Asics Challenge this weekend. An athlete to keep tabs on is Parkley Douglas who will be one of the top 2030 liberos in Nebraska. She is nearly 300 digs in her freshman year, which is good for 5.2 per set. Her older sister Paisley Douglas plays for USC and is a Skutt Catholic alum.
