NATIONAL BID - NPJ 18 FOREFRONT

Receiving the top bid from the CEVA Bid tournament was the powerhouse NPJ 18 Forefront team, who went undefeated by sets and matches on the day. Last season, this team brought in two out-of-state athletes, Kyleene Filimaua (Seattle, current freshman at Florida State) and Alex Acevedo (Nampa, current freshman at the University of Oregon), to round out their roster. These additions, coupled with some standout Oregon athletes, allowed them to compete at an incredibly high level Nationally. Last season, they were able to upgrade their bid to compete in Open, finishing 9th in the Nation, and this season will undoubtedly be vying for the same opportunity.

Like last year, this team is comprised of top Oregon athletes and two out-of-state athletes: [player_tooltip player_id='217363' first='Alyss' last='Kelly'], a 2024 DS/L from Seattle, committed to Kansas State, and Maija Howse, an uncommitted 2025 pin hitter from Boise.

Running the offense was none other than the top Oregon recruit for the class of 2024, [player_tooltip player_id='126024' first='Alexis' last='Haury'], who is committed to the University of Washington. With athletic footwork, exceptional hand strength, and all the finesse, she confidently executed a 5-1 on the day.

On the pins, Forefront brings athleticism and power between [player_tooltip player_id='161159' first='Paige' last='Thies'] (‘25 University of Arizona), [player_tooltip player_id='126029' first='Kendyl' last='Arnett'] (‘24 Uncommitted), Maija Howse (‘25 Uncommitted), [player_tooltip player_id='143666' first='Bridget' last='Gould'] (‘24 University of Oregon), and [player_tooltip player_id='126172' first='Teagan' last='Wilson'] (‘24, Santa Clara Beach). In the middle, they have options, with [player_tooltip player_id='244416' first='Lauryn' last='Johnson'] (‘24 Arizona State University), [player_tooltip player_id='126161' first='Chloe' last='Leluge'] (‘24 Cal Poly), and [player_tooltip player_id='161826' first='Taelyn' last='Bentley'] (‘25 Uncommitted).

Their backcourt is in good hands with outside hitter turned DS/L [player_tooltip player_id='126188' first='Sidney' last='Friesen'] (‘24 Western Oregon), who finished the day in the libero jersey, [player_tooltip player_id='217363' first='Alyss' last='Kelly'] (‘24 Kansas State), and [player_tooltip player_id='126032' first='Jadyn' last='Daviscourt'] (‘24 Southern Oregon). Utility player [player_tooltip player_id='161822' first='Jackie' last='Carle'] (‘25 Uncommitted) has been juggling both the DS role and the setter role, depending on team needs.

This team is coached by Adam Ellis and Mike Gee, with some assistance from former player and current Corban athlete Lilly Snook.

AMERICAN BID - OJVA 18 GOLD

Taking home the American bid from the CEVA Bid Tournament was OJVA 18 Gold, whose only loss was to NPJ 18 Forefront. This group has remained fairly intact since their 15-1 season, picking up a few athletes here and there, but the core group has remained constant, leading to exceptional team chemistry and heart.

[player_tooltip player_id='391924' first='Elisabeth' last='Levick'] (‘24 Old Dominion University) ran the offense for OJVA 18 Gold. As the only setter in attendance, she tirelessly carried out a 5-1 across six matches. Missing in action was [player_tooltip player_id='249445' first='Kendall' last='Mairs'] (‘25 San Jose State), who was recovering from winning the 4A State basketball title for Camas High School the night before. Typically, the pair runs a 6-2 offense.

On the pins, OJVA 18 Gold relied on [player_tooltip player_id='249444' first='Sydney' last='Dreves'] (‘25 Boise State), [player_tooltip player_id='391925' first='Maxine' last='Deroo'] (‘24 Beliguim), and [player_tooltip player_id='244417' first='Amber' last='Walker'] (‘24 Sonoma State) to put the ball away. [player_tooltip player_id='126054' first='Brooke' last='Williams'] (‘24 Seattle Pacific) and [player_tooltip player_id='126031' first='Hailey' last='Heytvelt'] (‘24 Campbell University) proved a formidable front from the middle, contributing often to the offense and defense.

Across the backcourt, OJVA depended on [player_tooltip player_id='126030' first='Adrienne' last='Nguyen'] (‘24 Uncommitted), who finished the day in the libero jersey, [player_tooltip player_id='221031' first='Halle' last='Reiter'] (‘24 Santa Clara), and [player_tooltip player_id='126201' first='McKenna' last='Brent'] (‘24 Uncommitted), to keep the team in rallies with relentless defensive pursuits.

OJVA 18 Gold is head coached by Kalani Efstathiou and assisted by Michelle Hoover.

FREEDOM BID - WEBFOOT 18 ELITE

Coming in third place at the CEVA Bid tournament was Webfoot 18 Elite, which means they secured the Freedom bid. Based out of Eugene, OR they pull some talented athletes from in and around that area. A young team with some key players returning from last season's Webfoot 18 Elite team, they are poised to have a competitive season, and placing 3rd at this tournament is indicative of that.

Splitting duties running the offense are [player_tooltip player_id='257580' first='Claire' last='Crawford'] (‘25 Uncommitted) and [player_tooltip player_id='162943' first='Alyssa' last='Lewey'] (‘24 Uncommitted). Lewey is a 6'1” leftie with a high contact point and Crawford is a 5'10 dynamic setter.

On the pins, Webfoot is flooded with top-notch options. Their primary outsides, both returners, are [player_tooltip player_id='393762' first='Emma' last='Fairbairn'] (‘24 Biola University) and [player_tooltip player_id='161950' first='Cheyenne' last='Green'] (‘25 Oregon State University), who they rely on heavily as offensive options. Also in the mix are [player_tooltip player_id='257583' first='Malique' last='Sweet'] (‘25 Uncommitted) and [player_tooltip player_id='161886' first='Kathryn' last='Scholl'] (‘25 Uncommitted). The middle is in good hands with the trio of [player_tooltip player_id='492145' first='Gracee' last='Robertson'] (‘24 Uncommitted), [player_tooltip player_id='257587' first='Ruby' last='Jackson'] (‘25 Uncommitted), and [player_tooltip player_id='161867' first='Rhianna' last='Lane'] (‘25 Uncommitted).

Webfoot's backrow has been entrusted to [player_tooltip player_id='161851' first='Emily' last='Kathryn Krauss'] (‘25 Uncommitted), the lone DS/L option on the team. With all eyes on Krauss, she has remained a steady option, keeping them in system on serve receive.

This team is head coached by Brian Wodke and assisted by Samantha Rouleau.
