A number of top 20 matches involved.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>The Covenant </strong>(12-1) sent <strong>Timberlake Christian</strong> (16-1-1) down to their first loss, winning in four. Timberlake's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='530601' first='Cambre' last='Phillips']</strong> finished the match with 30 kills in the loss. She happens to lead the state of Virginia in kills. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='720073' first='Cara' last='Hamil'] </strong>put together 17 kills, 16 digs and three blocks in the win. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Loudoun County</strong> (8-1) won in five over <strong>Independence</strong> (4-4). The Captains took the last two sets 25-22, 15-12 to avoid the loss.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wise </strong>(5-0) remained undefeated by downing <strong>Eleanor Roosevelt </strong>(4-5-1) in five. They won the fifth set 15-7. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='536728' first='Lalah' last='Washington']</strong> finished with 7 kills, 11 aces and 20 digs. <strong> [player_tooltip player_id='498420' first='Meisha' last='Sykes'] </strong>accumulated 9 kills and three blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Smithsburg</strong> (5-3) beat <strong>Boonsboro</strong> (5-1) in five, taking the last two sets 25-19 and 15-13. Boonsboro came back from that loss to give <strong>Williamsport</strong> (4-1) their first loss. They had to take the last three sets, 25-22, 25-20 and 15-8 to pull out the win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Broadneck</strong> (5-2) had a rough week, first losing to<strong> Arundel</strong> (4-4) in five, then losing to <strong>Musselman</strong> (19-9) from West Virginia in four. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181299' first='Ada' last='McCoy']</strong> led Musselman with 24 kills, 8 aces and 9 digs while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='320814' first='Alycia' last='Miller']</strong> contributed 16 digs. Broadneck did bounce back to win the next day, sweeping <strong>Glen Burnie</strong> (2-6).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Christiansburg</strong> (10-2) battled <strong>Salem </strong>(11-5) to five winning the fifth set 19-17. They also took the third set 32-30. Aubrey generally plays middle. That makes them tough to beat.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While she ranks fifth on the team in kills her hitting percentage of .324 ranks the best on the team. She connects with her setter well on the quick sets in the middle and appears to show good vision of the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She ranks third on the team in blocks and her 13 service aces puts her fourth on the team. Her ten digs shows she can play a little defense in the back row after serving the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong middle who can also play right side. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Number 4 <strong>James Madison</strong> (9-1-2) won a big game over number 13 <strong>Chantilly</strong> (10-2-1) sweeping them in three. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='359401' first='Chloe' last='Barth']</strong> led the way with seven aces and eight digs, while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='265167' first='Laila' last='Chadwick']</strong> pieced together 16 digs and eight kills. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181297' first='Lameen' last='Mambu']</strong> accumulated 15 kills while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='455102' first='Erin' last='Green'] </strong>responded with 13 kills in the loss. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Warhawks then proved their dominance in the district by following with a sweep over <strong>Westfield </strong>(13-3). <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181314' first='Aubrey' last='Loughlin']</strong> led the way in that win with 9 kills and four blocks. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='455177' first='Briana' last='Vo']</strong> dished out 28 assists in running a balanced attack while also tallying 10 digs. Two big Concorde District wins that put them at 3-0 while Chantilly dropped to 1-1 and Westfield to 3-1.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Falls Church</strong> (6-5-1) improved to 6-1 in the National Conference by dropping <strong>Thomas Jefferson </strong>(5-5) in five. They won the fifth set 19-17. Falls Church also had to wn the last three sets to claim victory. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181310' first='Ava' last='Stewart']</strong> provided 24 kills for Thomas Jefferson in the loss. The Colonials fell to 4-3 in the Conference, dropping to third place behind <strong>Hayfield </strong>(5-1) and Falls Church.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Frosh <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='697424' first='Ellie' last='Silberfeld'] </strong>(11) and her sister senior<strong> [player_tooltip player_id='478768' first='Sofia' last='Silberfeld']</strong> (18) combined for 29 assists in <strong>Walter Johnson's </strong>(6-0) sweep over <strong>Whitman</strong> (4-1). <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='696412' first='Stella' last='Lichter']</strong> powered the way with 12 kills to go along with 5 aces while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='529440' first='Emilia' last='Zhang']</strong> contributed 9 kills and 14 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='235748' first='Ema' last='Djordjevic']</strong> acheived her 600th kill in a three set victory for number 2 <strong>Richard Montgomery</strong> (6-0) in their sweep over<strong> Einstein</strong> (1-5). After the match she got the opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to her father.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Dominio</strong>n (13-1) powered their way past <strong>Rock Ridge</strong> (2-7) in four to improve to 3-0 in the Dulles District. Rock Ridge dropped to 1-1. Dominion appears to be walking on a path into the top 20.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a battle of top twenties number 10 <strong>Flint Hill</strong> (12-2) downed number 20 <strong>St Johns </strong>(14-2) in four. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181303' first='Isabelle' last='Bardin']</strong> accumulates triple doubles like a squirrel accumulates nuts, She finished with 18 kills, 11 digs and 21 assists. <strong> [player_tooltip player_id='437441' first='Hunter' last='Ross'] </strong>also finished with 18 kills while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='465301' first='Audrey' last='Sealock']</strong> hammered 13 kills. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181279' first='Kadi' last='Pynchon']</strong> contributed 6 aces and 21 digs. For Metro she was used as a secondary defensive player and never got an opportunity to see Jackson-Reed play. The opportunity came in a match against Flint Hill.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">She plays some strong defense, digging a ball with a sprawling one handed dig and showing a dolphin dive on a tip short in the middle of the court. Her passing was a bit inconsistent early in the first set but it got better as the match progressed. She hustles after balls, a critical component you find in all liberos.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Danielle has committed to Elon. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Friday <strong>Flint Hill </strong>(12-2) swept past <strong>Jackson Reed</strong>. Though Jackson Reed (9-2) scored 21 points twice and 19 once the sets were not that close. Once the Huskies reached double digits Jackson Reed never captured the lead. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='181303' first='Isabelle' last='Bardin']</strong> closed out the second set with three kills and the third set with a setter dump into the middle of the court. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='696417' first='Sydney' last='Hudson']</strong> shined for Jackson Reed from the left side while libero <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='478130' first='Danielle' last='Wallace'] </strong>played some strong defense. The 6'0" right side <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='378662' first='Taylor' last='Simpson'] </strong>showed promise with her lefthand swing. While she sets for the Falcons she also stays in the front row to hit right side. She leads the team in assists but ranks third in kills, blocks and digs. She also ranks second in aces.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Genevieve was voted a top performer at our Prep Dig Stock Up Showcase in August. At 5'10 she brings good height to the setting position. Love the fact that she primarily jump sets as she feeds the hitter the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A solid all around player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Severna Park </strong>(7-1) woke up after losing their first set 25-9 to win the next three against <strong>South River</strong> (2-5). <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='525341' first='Genevieve' last='Willis'] </strong>contributed seven kills, 13 digs and 9 assists in the win. <strong>Lizzie Ranaghan </strong>dropped 12 kills. She listed herself as a setter but when I watched her it was her hitting that caught my attention. I do no see frosh in the Chesapeake area hit as well as he, especially a player I don't already know about. Turns out she travelled from Georgia to participate in the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She won top performer at our frosh showcase and now starts for her high school team. While there she ranks second on her team in kills, blocks and assists and sits tied for first in aces. It appears she could become a very good all around player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She lists her club as Savannah Mizuno. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Finally, in a special report <strong>Ellie Ayala,</strong> a top performer at our August frosh showcase is also performing well for her Savannah Arts Academy high school team. She ranks second on the team in kills, blocks and assists. She also sits tied for first in service aces. Her high school ranks on top in her district at 5-0 with an overall record of 21-15.
