The championship game of the 17 Open between the Adidas KIVA Red and [program_tooltip program_id='431827' first='Elevation' last=''] Chicas teams played out the maximum three games.

The difference in the game turned out to be Elizabethtown 6-6 junior middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id='212253' first='Jessica' last='Smallwood']. She had plenty of help from the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='212396' first='Emily' last='Keiran'], [player_tooltip player_id='212400' first='Jillian' last='Bohannon'], [player_tooltip player_id='212398' first='Ella' last='Askin'], [player_tooltip player_id='212357' first='Kamya' last='Mahorn'], [player_tooltip player_id='212249' first='Cameron' last='Owens'] and [player_tooltip player_id='479273' first='Mady' last='Yaden']. The team needed all 10 players to rally past Chicas including [player_tooltip player_id='212399' first='Kathryn' last='O'Toole'], Haidyn Carter and [player_tooltip player_id='477118' first='Ryelle' last='Rondo'].

Chicas came out and found ways to hit around Smallwood, going up 8-3 early before winning that first game 25-21. However, the KIVA Red got into a better rhythm in the next two games to win them by 25-19, 15-11 scores, winning the tournament with an 8-2 record.

Chicas finished 7-3. [player_tooltip player_id='195210' first='Rachel' last='Morgan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='227618' first='Ava' last='Long'] started things off well with great passes allowing setter [player_tooltip player_id='227619' first='Makenna' last='Kirlin'] setting up the powerful attack. [player_tooltip player_id='403522' first='Kendall' last='Northern'], [player_tooltip player_id='524607' first='Sophie' last='Davis'], [player_tooltip player_id='392780' first='Sydney' last='Geselbracht'], [player_tooltip player_id='227617' first='Cara' last='Richter'], [player_tooltip player_id='227628' first='Sidney' last='Sprada'], Reesa Zimmerman and [player_tooltip player_id='403521' first='Grace' last='Herzog'] took a number of powerful swings, but had no answer for Smallwood at the net.

Keiran continues to sacrifice her body going full out after balls and keeping plays alive. Keiran has amazing instincts on the court and they come in handy against solid competition. If balls come near her, the phenom is most likely going to dig them up. Keiran said the key to winning the 17 Open championship game turned in the second set after the team talked about deserving to be there and it was time to exaggerate points to gain momentum. She did more than her fair share of that in that game.

Bohannon (pictured) is turning into a great leader on the court running the offense well for the 17 Red team. Bohannon does a great job finding the hot hitters. She adds in a sound jump serve. She quickly transitions to setting after the serves. Bohannon said she's been focused on making smart decisions, especially in the tight games.

Long's presence on the 17 Chicas team may be somewhat overshadowed with the wealth of talent on the team. However, her first touches are just as valuable as anything. Long tries to better balls each and every play. Long said the key there is staying relaxed and not getting frustrated by mistakes. Long added volleyball is a game of runs so it's about lifting each other up and doing the best they can.

Reid plays a huge defensive specialist role for the A.62 team. She moves her feet well and puts herself in good position to make sound passes. Reid constantly encourages her teammates on the court and the bench. Reid said the coaches have worked with her on quick feet and her ball control and it's paying off.

Moine gives the 17 Blue team a good chance to win whenever she takes the court. Moine anticipates then goes hard after balls well, making sound passes. Moine has great court awareness knowing when to run up to the net to protect against blocks and when to back off.
