G’s Elite Setters at Houston Stock Up Showcase

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last Sunday was a very fun one as Prep Dig had its Stock Up Showcase come to Houston, providing prospects from the area and beyond an additional opportunity to showcase their skills and raise their profiles ahead of the start of the high school season in Texas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With prospects from the classes of 2026, 2027 and 2028 taking part in the event held at the [program_tooltip program_id='462263' first='TAV' last='Houston'] facility, it was also an opportunity for us, scouts, to get familiar with new faces while tracking the progress of the ones we already knew. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With the event completed, I'm now ready to share the names of the players who had the most impressive performances in each position, starting with the setters:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["443043"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-688ff21e69d88"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Saiz has been to some of our showcases before, but I think it was the first time I got to watch her in person, and I was positively impressed with what I saw. She ran a very dynamic offense and thrived with her distribution, keeping things very smooth on her side of the net. Saiz tried to speed things up when in system, but was also excellent when working with passes of the net, as, although she had to be a little more conservative, she still nailed her locations. She's an extremely technical setter, who moves well for the ball and consistently makes the right choices with her distribution. George has a long frame and uses it to make contact with the ball at a high point and accelerate the game when working with passes close to the net. She was not afraid to set against the flow and often forced opponents to cover a long distance to get in front of the ball, getting her hitters in good situations to put the ball down. Mihalakis also did well in out-of-system plays, using her great setting hands to remain accurate with her locations. Her setting hands were among the best in the event, and every time she got on the ball, it came out of her hands very clean and went into the right spot. Rackley also displayed great body control and court awareness to remain accurate when she had to work with passes off the net and make contact with the ball while still moving. She also played solid defense and was audacious at trying some tricky setter dumps.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
