Our latest feature covered a wide range of Nebraska 2027s who have used the ongoing fall season to build their case for climbing from the watch list to the rankings. It's a good sneak peek into the next wave of rankings updates that are on the horizon. However, we've only scratched the surface of how far this stock-riser series can go.

Bring on the 2028s. This set of rankings is still in its infancy, so we should have even more worthy rankings candidates to discuss here. Our watch list is loaded.

This is an easy one. We've talked about the big void that Gretna East had to fill at libero this fall, and Beethe has stepped in as well as you could hope from an underclassman. She played a solid DS role in her debut season last fall, but Beethe has seized the libero jersey in Year 2 with extraordinary success. Her 4.5 digs per set rank among Nebraska's best sophomore numbers. Beethe's high-impact season with Premier Nebraska 15 Gold, which ended with a GJNC title, has furthered her rise among her 2028 peers. Beethe's rankings rise is inevitable.

Fremont High School has become synonymous with its versatile, do-everything athletes, and Brandt fits that mold for this year's Tiger squad. Last year, this dynamic sophomore was a valuable contributor to Fremont's defense and also had some forays as a frontcourt attacker. However, Brandt's work with Nebraska Elite has also revealed her sharp skills at the setter spot. That has now materialized on the prep side, where Brandt is putting up 7.7 assists per set as the Tigers' leading distributor. The rigors of Class A competition have not slowed Fremont's progress.

Cohee is determined to bring Guardian Angels Central Catholic back where it belongs. The Bluejays missed out on last year's big dance after claiming the No. 1 seed a year prior, but Cohee's command has reached a new level in 2025. She is dishing out over 11 assists per set while offering the aggression, poise, and grit we'd expect from GACC. Cohee's leadership has yielded an 18-2 record and one of the top spots on the Class C2 leaderboard.

Millard South's breakthrough season is no fluke. The Patriots have brought a stacked, talented lineup to the floor this fall, and Jacobson has carried the banner for the Class of 2028. We were already preparing for Jacobson's rankings ascent after she helped Club Legacy 15 Alpha reach GJNC through a Show Me title. Still, Jacobson has kept digging this fall and is averaging a team-leading 2.7 kills per set for Millard South. She's an indispensable part of one of Nebraska's most efficient offenses, and that's reason enough to bring her into the rankings.

Propp's numbers are impossible to ignore. The Cozad sophomore has averaged a stunning 5.9 kills per set and can terminate from anywhere along the net. Propp set a high bar after her freshman debut, but she has somehow managed to best her freshman production and establish a new standard for the Haymakers. As we look for the next wave of small-town stars to bring into the rankings, Propp will surely be an important piece of the puzzle.

Taylor is a fun case of a big-time prep star whose all-around game translates to the rural prep stage. We saw her play up with Premier Nebraska 17 Silver to open 2025, and this big move paid immediate dividends. Taylor was a key contributor on the right pin and was a perfect fit for 17 Silver's unique system. She's now leading the charge for Auburn High School with 3.6 kills per set on a 0.219 clip. This prep tenure has given us a look at Taylor's quick right arm on the left side, so we know she can thrive on either side of the setter. We'll see what the future holds with both Auburn and Premier Nebraska.

Setters have been a focal point of our 2028 watch list evaluations. Vanosdall has landed on our radar after taking over Platteview's full-time setter role this fall. She garnered valuable experience in her freshman debut, but Vanosdall's production has exploded in Year 2 to an average of ten assists per set. Her balanced distribution, quick tempo, and flawless location have guided the Trojans to an outstanding 20-3 mark on the ever-competitive Class C1 circuit. A tournament appearance is in play, which would raise Vanosdall's stock even further.
