Who Is Rising and Uncommitted of Iowa's Updated 2027 Rankings?

Our Iowa Class of 2027 rankings have been updated!  Who is rising?  And, who is still uncommitted?  Almost all of these athletes will be heading into their 17s season for club volleyball.  A big year for recruiting and finding the next step.  Let's take a look at who is certainly trending.     The juniors from Clear Creek Amana was a key piece to their final four run in the Class 4A State Tournament. She has also been a key part to this 17s group from Iowa United. Simpson's length and athleticism is what sets her apart. She plays the middle position with finesse, she's smooth, efficient with her movement, and is equally an offensive and defensive presence on the court. With her being around other top athletes throughout high school and club, she knows how to compete at a high level. I think she would be one who could go fast in 2026 when it comes to committing.     So solid, [player_tooltip player_id='555820' first='London' last='Taylor'] commands the backrow like a shortstop, a middle linebacker, she has a nose for the ball. She was part of the Class 5A state title for Waukee Northwest where they dominated the state. The ability to train at a high level and deliver in a big game as a libero is always exciting. Taylor has those intangibles to make a gym better and is one of the top available liberos out of the Class of 2027.     Just electric. [player_tooltip player_id='495803' first='Ava' last='Jones'] has soared in the Class of 2027 with her ability to score points at a high level. She will be playing for CIA out of Waterloo where their 17s team should be really exciting. They have plenty of athletes who can play at the next level and seeing them all together on the court for 2026 will be perfect for college coaches. Jones brings a six rotation game where she can defend and score from anywhere on the court.     Welcome to the rankings, [player_tooltip player_id='816843' first='Maryn' last='Franken']. Franken is quite the athlete for Sioux Center where she made quite a name for herself at the Class 4A state tournament. She was a six rotation middle blocker for the Warriors where they took home the runner up trophy behind North Scott. She was named 2nd Team All State in Class 4A and is also one of the top players in basketball for Sioux Center who was a state tournament team a year ago. Could Franken be a dual sport athlete at the next level? With her ability that could be in the cards.     Another athlete coaches need to take a look at quickly would be [player_tooltip player_id='555717' first='Kaycee' last='Cory'] for Cedar Rapids Kennedy. She is a major problem for the other side of the net. Teams need to know where she is and what she is going to be doing. She is a setter/right side combo player and at 6'1 she is an offensive and defensive threat at the net. She had over 450 assists and 228 kills for the Cougars this fall that has a really strong junior class. Keep tabs on Cory this winter where she will be a name to know.     The junior setter from Janesville had quite a run where her team advanced to the final four of the Class 1A state tournament. She brings athleticism and a smooth style of play where she is well trained and fundamentally sound with her feet and hands. She is looking to push the tempo whenever she can to her middles and can hold the opposing middle blocker to set up a favorable matchup for her pin.     [player_tooltip player_id='809159' first='Reese' last='Heim'] of Norwalk had a monster high school season after being a key contributor for the Iowa Premier 15-1 squad during the 2025 club season. She is so steady, consistent, and plays with a maturity to the game. She earned All State honors for Norwalk who qualified for the Class 4A state tournament. Another junior she plays alongside with is [player_tooltip player_id='493974' first='Hadley' last='Michael'] who is quite the QB1 type setter, commanding the offense.     At some of these large Class 5A schools, it's a matter of waiting your turn. Pleasant Valley graduated two high powered middles in 2025 which opened a spot for [player_tooltip player_id='555746' first='Clare' last='Yeggy'] to have a huge breakout season. Yeggy brings a lot of athleticism and physicality to the net where she can get up for the block and out in transition to be available for multiple tempos. She had a big junior season and will be one of those fast twitch athletic type middles that college coaches would love to see at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='758828' first='Sophia' last='Heither'] just needs a small window of opportunity to terminate out of the middle. I've watched her on the club and high school courts and she is always consistent. She hits a heavy ball and isn't afraid to be aggressive. She can terminate off a quick tempo ball and has a knack provide a big block with good footwork and hand placement.     So solid. Hogan is another libero from the Class of 2027 who needs some looks for the next level. She was a major part to the success of Beckman which landed them in the Class 2A state tournament. She has played her club ball for CIA and is one who brings a controlled first touch and can bring calm to the chaos when her side is out of system.
