For a freshman, finding time on the varsity stage is typically tough. Last year we saw several freshmen play major roles in their teams' success. Will that happen in 2026? It is tough for coaches to balance players getting more reps vs getting them varsity experience. Most feel it is better to work with your group to get as many reps as possible. We shall see, but here are a handful of the class of 2030 that could make an impact.

Kicking us off for the class of 2030 it Lakeside rising freshman, [player_tooltip player_id='758288' first='Hendrix' last='Yancey']. Expect Yancey to see plenty of varsity playing time this year for the Rams. If we had rankings for 2030's, she would be at the top. Hendrix is an advanced athlete for a 14 year old. She won't be intimidated by varsity play in the least, having played against top competition at camps and in club. She is rangy and quick and plays with great anticipation at the net on defense. On offense, she is effective at all three front row positions. She also has an infectious personality on the court that puts teammates at ease, but she can turn on the intensity at a moments notice. Expect to see her on the court a lot this season.

Emma is a player that has a legitimate shot to contribute to Coach Laura Crow's back-to-back State Championship Wampus Cats. She has the size and the arm to put the ball down at the varsity level. She looks to be another in the long line of great outside hitters from Conway. Booy's defense shined when I watched at a college camp earlier this summer, so much so, I had to ask if she was a new 2027 to the area. Her blocking and digging will only get better and she is already a solid offensive option. While she may not start, she will most likely be in the mix this fall. Teaming her with 2028 outside [player_tooltip player_id='940133' first='Paisley' last='Porter'], 2027 Pin Kate Tallent, and 2027 Addi Connell forms a pretty strong presence at the net.

Ellie is one heck of an instinctive setter. She has great placement and her vision keeps defenders off balance. Foster controls the offense when she is on the court with a calmness not often seen in young players. You never know if she is going press a ball out to the pin or dump one making an unsuspecting middle feel embarrassed. She will continue to grow and learn in the great Farmington program behind [player_tooltip player_id='883787' first='Kolie' last='Beach'] and Emily Hedrick, but if the time comes and she is called upon, she will jump in with both feet.

This lefty is just pure joy to watch. The 2030 combo RS/MB is going to be another great NWA player to watch for the next four years. She has great quickness and a heavy hand at the net. She, "loves the sound of a crisp clean block!" Braelynn has provided plenty of highlights over the 2026 club season for the NWA Storm 14's. Her ability to solo block stood out as she gets great hand placement to direct her blocks where they can't be dug up. Bentonville West has no shortage of strong front-row players, but it is not impossible that Lindsey could get the call if needed. She needs to continue to develop and there is no need to rush, but this youngster will be on the college radars soon enough.

Lindsey's club mate [player_tooltip player_id='782905' first='Maya' last='Sargent'] could step up into a ds or libero roll for Har-Ber this year. The Wildcats are losing seven players off last years squad and four of them were defensive specialists. As with most freshman finding court time is tough, but Maya has shown this club season that no challenge is too big. She can go get it with the best of them and constantly keeps her team in system by controlling the back-row. Her performance at Nationals showed just how she can take over. Look for continued growth and notoriety for this freshman.

Standing 5'11 at 14 years old typically will get you stuck in the middle or as pin, but Stearns possesses too good of hands for that. She has the type of size colleges will be looking for as she matures. Her IQ at such a young age is very good. Having someone like 2028 superstars [player_tooltip player_id='547495' first='Olivia' last='Ambeau'] and [player_tooltip player_id='769825' first='Asa' last='Perry'] doesn't hurt. Stearns looks to be another in a long line of great 501 setters. Her ball placement keeps her hitters in great position to terminate, and Caroline has the ability to put the ball down herself from the right-side. Benton has had some turnover at the setter position with a transfer and seniors from last year moving on, Stearns may get the chance to prove herself in fall camp. But if not, she will continue to develop into what looks like a very good career. Keep working. We will keep watching.

McKenzie is a powerful hitter that makes clubs stand up and take notice. She has a heavy hand and can really put the ball down. At 13 she caught the eye of former Prep Dig scout Hannah Watkins. Berry continues to turn heads on the court. McKenzie has very good footwork and presents a challenge to any hitter trying to get past her. The old adage you can't teach size is true, but size is not all Berry has going for her. She's a solid defender and an offensive weapon. Will we see her on the court for Greenwood this fall? Time will tell, but she is already watched by some colleges. We will be watching too!

One of the newest names to know in Arkansas is [player_tooltip player_id='749309' first='Henley' last='Frank'], who recently moved from Louisville, Kentucky. Frank has been competing at the varsity level since the seventh grade and now brings that experience to Arkansas volleyball. I had the opportunity to watch film on Frank and also checked out to fellow Prep Dig evaluator Mike Graham for his assessment.

"Frank brings a strong presence to the court for 15 Black," Graham said. "She consistently makes clean first contacts and works hard after every ball while staying under control. At the net, she provides solid blocking and is constantly encouraging her teammates."

Graham also pointed to her serving as a major strength. "She has outstanding command of her serve. She'll vary her locations until she identifies a weakness, then she'll continue attacking that spot to keep opponents out of system."

Frank brings a mature, steady game to the floor. Her first-ball contact is clean, she competes with discipline, and she understands how to apply pressure from the service line. Add in her leadership and varsity experience, and she should quickly become a player to watch as she begins her Arkansas career.

I was able to watch Cox in person at the Delta Regionals in Cabot earlier this year and she is impressive. I didn't get to see any of her setting, but her work from the pins was strong. She powers through blocks and goes off hands very well and defensively she contains the opposing outsides very well. She has a variety of shots that make defending her difficult. Her line shot keeps getting better every minute of film I watch. Cox is an intimidating force on the court in club. Mainly hitting from the right-side, she can put it down from either pin. She has the size and skillset to become a quality pin, but I will reserve comment on her setting until I am able to watch some video or see her in person, she definitely has the look of what colleges are looking for.

It is tough for coaches to balance players getting more reps vs getting them varsity experience. Most feel it is better to work with your group to get as many reps as possible. We shall see, but here are a handful of the class of 2030 that could make an impact.
