[player_tooltip player_id='464573' first='Blake' last='Crawford'] OH (Atlee) - Blake brings a strong left handed swing that gives her the versatility to hit either left or right side. When I watched her play she was hitting left side. Blake earned a spot on the second team all Region, the only frosh to make it on an All Region team.

[player_tooltip player_id='464556' first='Kennedy' last='Peyton'] outside (Riverside) - Kennedy did not get a lot of playing time for a Riverside team that went undefeated during the season until they lost the Class 5 championship match. When she did get playing time she showed she brought game to the court. [player_tooltip player_id='192587' first='Adriana' last='Perodin'] will be graduating, which should open a spot on the left side for Kennedy.

[player_tooltip player_id='465326' first='Saesha' last='Dhote'] left side (Richard Montgomery/MVSA) - Saesha took over one of the left side spots to help Richard Montgomery win their first state championship. She finished fifth on the team in hitting. Saesha stands just 5'7" but still gets high enough over the net to put the ball away. She also contributed in the back row.

The Usual Suspects

The weekend was filled with the opening salvo of Chesapeake region tournaments. There were new clubs entering the fray and older clubs who were trying to make a statement that this year they would be relevant. At the end of the day it was the usual suspects that came out on top.

On Saturday Metro 18 beat their younger sisters Metro 17 in a Maryland Juniors tournament. Despite the losses of [player_tooltip player_id='180288' first='Emerson' last='Sellman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='180295' first='Ryla' last='Jones'] to early college enrollment and the departure of Renee Jones from the area, they proved they were still relevant. They have new additions in [player_tooltip player_id='181300' first='Alexis' last='Ewing'] who should help on the outside and [player_tooltip player_id='309024' first='Caroline' last='Lang'] who will be called upon to plug up one of the middle spots. They swept Metro 17 by the score of 25-18, 25-21.

[program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] took the 17 open by sweeping Maryland Jrs. [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] has on their roster the Max Preps West Virginia player of the year [player_tooltip player_id='181299' first='Ada' last='McCoy'], as well as [player_tooltip player_id='290899' first='Ava' last='Dickerson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='243771' first='Berkeley' last='Konrady']. Their back row play should be strong with [player_tooltip player_id='180302' first='Emma' last='White'] and [player_tooltip player_id='377327' first='Isabella' last='DeWan'].

Paramount 15 (Anderson) won the Vienna Elite 15 open tournament. While they went undefeated four of their 10 wins were by two points, including three sets that went overtime. They won the championship match against American 2 team 25-8 and 25-9. This would actually be the Paramount second team with [player_tooltip player_id='377395' first='Jordan' last='Yun'] at libero and Kate Drosos setting (Edited from original giving credit to Paramount Nick).

After losing their opening set 25-23 to Brandywine Metro 16 recovered and won their remaining games to take the gold in the BAVA 16 open. Three of their six wins they held their opponents to less than 10 points. Metro 16 can tower over opponents with 6'4" [player_tooltip player_id='490643' first='Bryah' last='Breaux'] and 6'3" [player_tooltip player_id='227251' first='Morgan' last='D. Williams'] hitting outside.

In a 16 open tournament [player_tooltip player_id='181302' first='Kennedy' last='Spaid'] could not be stopped as [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] swept through their opposition. At 5'11" she is not a giant for an outside hitter and she does not wow you with her vertical. What she does is find the open spot on the court to finish off her kills, whether it is going down the line, cross court or hard angle. Every time she touched the ball it seemed a kill was inevitable. [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] has some talent on their roster with [player_tooltip player_id='320815' first='Tenley' last='Mattison'] hitting middle and [player_tooltip player_id='181280' first='Brenna' last='Corbin'] shoring up the back row duties..

[program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] 15 took home the 15 open prize at Maryland Jrs. They have two potential superstars in [player_tooltip player_id='435748' first='Aaliyah' last='Green'] and Breeze Johnson. Aaliyah plays left side and is their primary weapon there. Breeze sets and plays right side and belongs to the class of 2028. She already stands 5'11"and is an avid beach player. In the finals Maryland Jrs won the opening set but [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] bounced back to win the last two.

Paramount 18 went undefeated to win the 18 open in a tournament at Good Counsel. Their toughest match was against an MVSA 17 teqm that had [player_tooltip player_id='235748' first='Ema' last='Djordjevic'] and [player_tooltip player_id='309030' first='Corinne' last='Howard']. Paramount 18 is led by [player_tooltip player_id='180294' first='Kiylah' last='Presley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='209790' first='Aubrey' last='Hatch'] hitting outside and [player_tooltip player_id='182776' first='Brianna' last='Clay'] and [player_tooltip player_id='209795' first='Harlan' last='Wyche'] plugging up the middles. They have two strong back row players in [player_tooltip player_id='207594' first='Paula' last='Sigurani'] and [player_tooltip player_id='181240' first='Natalie' last='Carlin'].
