At the state tournament, the top seed was bounced in the quarterfinals. Second-seeded Bishop Heelan topped No. 5 Pella in the title match. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It makes ranking this class during the preseason a tall task. We're up to the challenge, however, knowing that this rundown will begin changing in Week 1:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1. CLEAR CREEK AMANA</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Clippers have reached the state tournament the last three years and return a strong foundation of student-athletes that can go the distance. The cupboard is not bare, however, and they can make another run with inexperienced players like Dara Mollet, Madelyn Sexton and [player_tooltip player_id='831963' first='Emma' last='Moody'] taking advantage of opportunities for bigger roles. Replacing Libby Fandel will be a chore, but they can keep what has been a very successful program rolling with the return of starters Josie Smith and [player_tooltip player_id='329851' first='Macie' last='Lupkes'].
