Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
For setting, I hand set and that is my style unless the ball is dug in front of the ten foot line or super out of system. For defense, I like to take as much of the court as possible including the short middle and deep corner as digging is one of specialties. Lastly, for serve receive, I like to take one or both seams and short serves.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I play fierce. Another way to describe my mentality is calm yet competitive. I give positive feedback to my teammates. Sometimes, I push them by saying “Come on guys let’s go”. I have the same mindset the whole game and it stays consistent.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
At my school, I am a founding member of the No Place for Hate Committee. Our goal is to create a positive environment where students feel included. I am also part of WEB. In WEB, 8th graders introduce 6th graders to middle school by leading them through activities to build relationships and promote comfort. I also volunteer with the Friendship Foundation to help people with special needs.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have learned to celebrate good plays and encourage teammates every point we lose, showing teamwork. I recognize the moments where the team is struggling with communication and volleyball skills. In these times, I must keep talking and pushing my teammates. When my team is losing, is when I have to support my team the most.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I started playing indoor volleyball when I was ten. During these early seasons, it was a struggle for me to feel comfortable communicating on the court. At eleven, I begun to understand how essential communication was to volleyball culture. Each practice, I had to work on this skill and it was unnatural. It took a whole season to finally feel comfortable talking on the court.
What type of college are you looking for?
I would like a strong academic and athletics school. I would also enjoy a school with a good cultural fit for me.
