About Marleigh
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I’m a six-rotation outside hitter who plays with energy, confidence, and hustle. I like being aggressive at the net, helping in serve receive and defense, and doing whatever my team needs to compete and win.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I’m very competitive, hardworking, and positive. I take my development just as seriously as I take each game. I treat tournaments like a business trip not a field trip, even though i love the game and believe we can have fun while playing. I like encouraging my teammates, staying focused, and pushing myself to get better every time I practice or play.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I stay very involved in volleyball through club, school, camps, and training opportunities. I also work hard in school and try to balance academics and athletics the best I can. I love art and music because it's kind of like therapy for me, but volleyball is my favorite thing to do/be involved in.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Volleyball has helped me become a better leader, communicator, and teammate. I was nominated and selected as co-captain for my current club team. I’ve learned how to stay disciplined, work with different people, handle pressure, and support and encourage my teammates even during tough matches.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One challenge has been balancing school, training, travel, and recovery while still trying to perform at a high level. I’m very competitive, and sometimes people tell me to smile more or think I’m upset during games, but that’s just how I lock in and focus when I compete. Volleyball has taught me a lot about time management, responsibility, mental toughness, and staying confident under pressure.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college with a strong culture and community where I can compete at a high level and continue growing as a player and person. Playing Division I volleyball is one of my biggest goals, and academics are also important to me because I want to be prepared for my future outside of volleyball too.
