About Avilene
What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?
I love volleyball because it helps me grow as both an athlete and a person. It takes focus, communication, and teamwork, and I enjoy working with my team toward a common goal. As a libero, I take pride in making tough plays. staying strong on defense. and helping my team stay in system. Lastly, Volleyball has also taught me resilience and build self confidence.
What are you working to improve right now?
As a Libero, my goal this summer is to elevate my defense and prepare for the SC Rockstar tryouts. To build my agility, I am doing strength training, various drills and Libero coaching lessons. I am also looking forward to Beach volleyball tournaments and attending local college camps.
What are you looking for in a college program?
I am looking for a college that supports rigorous academics while maintaining a highly competitive volleyball program. Academics are a top priority for me and I hold a 4.0 GPA. I am pushed in the classroom but I am equally passionate about volleyball and am looking for a competitive team culture where I can contribute immediately and grow as an athlete.
Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?
When I am not playing volleyball, I focus my energy on leadership and community service. I serve as the Secretary for the class of 2031 in the National Charity League, volunteer at the Lovejoy Foundation for weekend dog adoptions and work at my church to make sandwiches and toiletry kits for the LA Mission. I also recentlv became CPR certified as I prepare to start Summer babysitting jobs.
What do you want to study, and what career interests you?
I am interested in a STEM Major and gravitate to Science and Math. I have been exposed to the Medical field my entire life, as both of my parents are Physicians. I am starting to volunteer to gain experience and exposure to the Medical profession.
