Rob Howe | Prep Dig Scout
Moyer was an important contributor for an Ankeny team that reached the Class 5A state semifinals in the fall. The junior registered 114 kills and 32.0 blocks in 85 sets. I scouted her a couple of times during the prep campaign. The first time happened at Iowa City West’s Live Like Line Tournament and then again at the state tournament. She flashes explosive athleticism leading the current production and the potential for much more with further development. It was time to check in on her progress during the club season. Moyer posted video of her play on her Sports Recruits page. Competing with RVA Roots 15 K. Palea, she’s flashing impactful two-way play at the opposite pin. A big vertical leap and hang time allow for getting on top of the ball and powering it down. She gets off the court quickly to help neutralize the opposing block. It also helps her in throwing up her long arms as an obstacle for the opposing attack. Moyer has significant upside and is worthy of more attention along the recruiting trail.

Programs like Ankeny seem to have an endless supply of talent coming through the program. One group graduates, and the next one steps in. The Hawks said goodbye to plenty of production from their 2024 state tournament and will need contributions from student-athletes like Moyer. She’s looked capable of doing that during this club campaign with RVA. Moyer is comfortable and effective hitting outside, but her play at the opposite pin is intriguing. She explodes off of the court, leaps well, has hang time and finishes with a powerful swing. Moyer also shows potential with the block.
