Breakout Attackers Shine at Bellevue West Invite

We've already riffed on a few first impressions and credit some setters who stole the show during this early-season gauntlet. Brown has started the season hitting at a .444 clip while also having over two digs per set to her credit. Martin also brings tremendous blocking instincts to the net and uses her active hands to overpower opposing hitters. The sophomore pin hitter thrived on the right side and was particularly dominant in Saturday's contest against Millard West. High school teams don't often wield right-side attackers out of the back row, but the Spartans defied that trend by feeding Foley on the 'D' ball. Not only was Foley a strong right-back attacker, but her stout defense made her an asset in every phase. However, Froehlich's red-hot start to the 2025 season has warranted mention for this feature. This stout middle blocker has nearly matched her total kill count from last year after only 15 sets played in 2025. Froehlich is also hitting above 0.300, giving Gretna yet another terminal weapon for in-system situations. Duran carried the Class of 2029 banner for the hosting Thunderbirds and slotted into a leading left-side hitter spot. She was not afraid to challenge all the imposing, disciplined blocks we saw at last weekend's event.
