2. The State Qualifiers are back on the court

It has only been a few short weeks since the state tournament ended, but we will have numerous athletes who competed in the WIAA State Championships in the house. Here are a few athletes I can't wait to see on the court:

[player_tooltip player_id='532385' first='Grace' last='Tilley'] - She was a dominant force for Grafton throughout the season and during the D2 state tournament. She earned All-State Honorable Mention and All-Tournament Team honors. Grace is a lethal middle who has been a stock riser in the past and had a breakout season this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='719623' first='Kendall' last='Frei'] - Kendall had an incredible club season last year and carried that into a competitive high school season, where her team qualified for state and battled in the quarterfinals. She played nearly every set for Oak Creek and was a consistent contributor, especially from the service line. Her ability to contribute across multiple areas of the court makes her very dynamic.

[player_tooltip player_id='545501' first='Marley' last='Connor'] - Marley was a serving specialist for DSHA throughout the season, but she made every point worth it. She was regularly behind the line for numerous points, putting in well-placed, powerful serves. Her quick reaction time and high-level court awareness were evident at the state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='808030' first='Maia' last='Kerry'] - Maia was a pin hitter for DSHA this season and had an outstanding freshman year. She makes aggressive choices, is disciplined in her transition, and is always hungry for more. Maia was always adapting at the state tournament, working to find holes in her opponents. She is a player with huge potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='545505' first='Tegan' last='Loechler'] - Teagan elevates the game on any court she plays on. She is a dominant setter and right side and was named a unanimous WVCA First Team All-State selection. Her fundamentals and high-volleyball IQ are key factors in her success.

[player_tooltip player_id='587062' first='Harper' last='Wendlick'] - Harper never missed a beat on the court. Her defense and serve receive were next level throughout the state tournament. When she was on offense, she was able to manufacture points. She was named to the WVCA All-Tournament team.

[player_tooltip player_id='781698' first='Faith' last='Benson'] - Faith was a crucial piece for Hamilton's State Championship this year. She was nearly unstoppable in the Championship match and showed a level of maturity and leadership nearly unmatched for a freshman. Faith has sky-high potential and will be turning heads this season.

3. The energizers will be on FIRE

The energy brought to this event is unmatched. It always amazes me how athletes step onto the court and play with energy, leadership, and most of all, FUN. And it's worth noting that this showcase is two days after Thanksgiving! These energizers will be not stop for anything on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='781110' first='Addison' last='Swaney'] - Addison earned our Avoli award at the showcases in August. She has a massive impact whenever she steps on the court and I can't wait to see her growth over the course of the past few months.

[player_tooltip player_id='551480' first='Enzie' last='Riley'] - Enzie was another athlete who brought the energy to our showcase in August. She was a pin with passion and immense leadership on the court. I love the balance of her talent, leadership, and energy when she is playing.

[player_tooltip player_id='523133' first='Grace' last='Mila'] - Grace is a powerhouse pin whose kills have a momentum-changing impact on the court. She can take multiple jumps in a play and deliver the same impact swings and high-level decision-making.

4. Rising Stars are going to be out in force

From watchlist players to new-to-me names to breakout stars, the list of athletes headed to Cedarburg on Saturday is vast, and it will be an absolute blast. Here are some rising stars I am excited to see live in action on Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id='516417' first='Camryn' last='Head'] - Camryn played about half of the matches for her high school varsity squad this season, yet was second on the team in blocks. That is pretty impressive. She is an athletic middle with a huge presence at the net

[player_tooltip player_id='586485' first='Samantha' last='Ruffing'] - Samantha is a middle who has been on our radar, but I have not had the opportunity to cross paths with her often. I am excited to see her with her veteran leadership, keen eye, and quick reactions on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='587064' first='Jamiya' last='Barnes'] - Jamiya is a lefty setter and right-side hitter whom I have had the opportunity to see play once. Her Rufus King team won their conference and had a dominant season. Jamiyah is dynamic, springy, and smart.

[player_tooltip player_id='514798' first='Addy' last='Oldenburg'] - Addy is a highly talented offensive weapon who could truly play across the net. She is simply that athletic and dynamic with a high contact point and lightning-fast armswing.

5. The Showcase is an even playing field.

This is one of the absolute best events for athletes to get on a scout's radar. There are no team colors, no club affiliation, just athletes, on a court, playing volleyball. It is one of my favorite things about the showcase events because, even with athletes I have had the opportunity to see before, I see new sides of their game when they play alongside new people. A showcase like this evens the playing field.
