We still have a lot of top-tier 2027s left on the big board.

Much of our ongoing postseason coverage has honed in on emerging underclassmen who announced their presence on Nebraska's biggest prep stage. However, we can't lose sight of the steely veterans who still deserve recognition and the opportunity to continue competing at the next level. Several recruitable juniors stood out at Pinnacle Bank Arena, so we're staying on the tournament spotlight kick a little longer.

Keep an eye on these 2027s as they head into the upcoming club season and beyond. Stocks are rising for this group.

Mitchell did it all for Amherst en route to the Broncos' Class D1 title triumph. She led the team in kills and hitting percentage while also establishing herself as a force in the back row. Her quick arm produced several highlight-worthy swings in Lincoln, but we also have to credit Mitchell's development as a shutdown blocker. Tabbing six blocks in a single match is not an easy feat, particularly for someone playing on the pin. Mitchell reached that mark in the championship bout with Overton, elevating her greatness among Nebraska's small-town 2027s.

It's hard to imagine Rasmussen elevating her game beyond the standard she set during the regular season. She compiled a whopping 5.6 kills per set during the 2025 campaign and hit well north of 0.300. However, the overall team success of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in Lincoln could place Rasmussen in new territory for our 2027 rankings. She demonstrated tremendous hustle as a hybrid player who could block in the middle and swing on the outside. Rasmussen shouldered a lot of responsibilities as LCC climbed to the C2 title match, and she's ready to do it again in 2026.

Let's pull from the Class A ranks. Schmidt was already having an exceptional calendar year after helping [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Black reach GJNC, but her junior season with Lincoln North Star went a step further. Schmidt's resume is now bolstered by taking part in LNS's best season ever, reaching the Class A state title match after securing the No. 1 overall seed. Aside from her ability to terminate in the front row, Schmidt produced a jaw-dropping eight aces in the semifinal sweep over Lincoln Southeast. That's some all-around dominance.

Bring another new state champion into the mix. Freeman High School boasted a balanced, dynamic offense this year, so we often have to look beyond the box score to find standout terminators. That might not affect Rinne much, as she still managed three kills per set this year for the eventual Class C2 champs. She had a brilliant double-double performance in the championship match against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and was unflappable in the middle back area. Perhaps 2025 was just the start of a new Freeman dynasty.

We are continuously taken aback by Overton's pipeline of setter talent. Elgren took the reins last year and immediately soared to nine assists per set for the Eagles. That effort yielded another trip to the state tournament--a storyline that repeated itself in 2025. We're always drawn to setters that aren't afraid to take risks and force their middles while off the net, and that's exactly what Elfgren gives to the Overton lineup. She knows when to find the hot hitter when the situation demands it.

Huff was a perfect fit for this year's Elkhorn North lineup. She set a stone wall on the edge with her long, physical stature at the opposite position. We've always known about her potential as a wing blocker, and she provided it again with a four-block performance in the championship match against Norris. However, Huff has continuously progressed as an attacker and hit over 0.312 in the fall finale. Premier Nebraska is eager to welcome her back to the gym this winter.
