Humboldt vs. Luxemburg-Casco

This will be a clash of two top teams from two different states. Humboldt was the Class 3A runner up in Iowa while Luxemburg-Casco just East of Green Bay was the D2 (Class 3A-4A equivalent in Wisconsin) state runner up in 2024 and semifinalist in 2025. Humboldt returns [player_tooltip player_id='746258' first='Adelynn' last='Goodell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='833174' first='Jazzie' last='Dodd'] as attackers while setter [player_tooltip player_id='545946' first='Addison' last='Waldorf'] will be one of the top returning setters in the state. She gave her verbal commitment to UNI shortly after June 15 when the 2028 recruiting window opened. Luxemburg-Casco returns with [player_tooltip player_id='459898' first='Aubrey' last='Frey'] who is a Stephen F Austin commit. She led the entire state of Wisconsin in kills with over 700 in 2025.

Assumption vs. Liberty

A battle of the Iowa City area versus the Quad Cities. Davenport Assumption is the returning Class 3A state champion who will be bumped up to Class 4A this season while Liberty has always been in the mix, advancing to the regional final in 2025. Assumption will return [player_tooltip player_id='694203' first='Belle' last='Cotton'] on the outside and libero [player_tooltip player_id='742600' first='Piper' last='Hodge'] who are among the top available 2028s in Iowa. Liberty has a strong core of seniors who have plenty of matches under their belt together. [player_tooltip player_id='316419' first='Edie' last='Miller'] will head to Dayton as a libero while her twin sister just committed to Morningside across the state in Sioux City, an NAIA power. They also have [player_tooltip player_id='273001' first='Ellie' last='Wilson'] who committed to Queens University, a D1 program in Charlotte, North Carolina.

City High vs. Union

City High will be a team to keep tabs on throughout the 2026 season. The combination of [player_tooltip player_id='730426' first='Hazel' last='Schluckebier'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493658' first='Hattie' last='Galloway'] will be one to watch. They have plenty of experience together and if the Little Hawks can be in system they will be tough to slow down. Galloway had a big club season for [program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] and will be heading to UW-Milwaukee for her college ball. Union is always solid, they are always in the mix for a state tournament run and compete in one of the toughest conferences in the state with the NICL. [player_tooltip player_id='754886' first='Taylen' last='Smith'] has been a force with her ability to attack and score points from anywhere on the court. She will head to Wartburg.

Pleasant Valley vs. Humboldt

Pleasant Valley will be a really interesting team heading into 2026. They graduated Isabelle Kremer and Maren Ouellette who will be starting their careers at Drake and Bradley this fall, but they still have plenty of returners coming back who can make an impact. [player_tooltip player_id='490015' first='Mazie' last='Sweers'] has done a little bit of everything for the Spartans where she is a lethal outside hitter, but she was the team's setter last year. She will head to Missouri Western who is starting a pipeline to Iowa. [player_tooltip player_id='555746' first='Clare' last='Yeggy'] will return out of the middle where she recently committed to UMSL, a D2 power out of St. Louis. [player_tooltip player_id='493657' first='Addison' last='Allaman'] returns for PV as their returning libero who has plenty of high level experience at the high school and level. This will be a really strong early test against Humboldt who will have high expectations heading into the season.
