<p>The USAV National Bid tournament for the CEVA region was this past weekend, so high-level volleyball 12U through 18U took place all over Oregon. The 16U age division was allotted three bids: a National Bid to the 1st place team, an American Bid to the 2nd place team, and a Freedom Bid to the 3rd place team. With eight teams vying for three bids, the competition was tough, but three teams prevailed and will be heading to the 2023 Girls Junior National Championship in Chicago, IL. </p>

<p><strong>NATIONAL BID</strong> – Athena VB 16-1 Gold</p>

<p>The Athena 16-1 team went undefeated on the day, making an impressive second-set comeback in the Championship. At an 18-24 deficit versus NPJ 16-1, Athena ended up winning 27-25 to secure the National bid. [player_tooltip player_id='161157' first='Mia' last='Hunt'] (the #2 recruit in Oregon) and [player_tooltip player_id='161833' first='Hayden' last='McGehee'] ran the offense as a 6-2, consistently pushing the ball to their powerhouse pins. Playing all six rotations, #1 recruit in 2026, [player_tooltip player_id='211120' first='Madilynn' last='Andrews'], proved lethal all around. Opposite her is the #6 overall recruit, [player_tooltip player_id='267161' first='Sadie' last='Ross'], who has showcased tons of improvement over the past few months. Bouncy [player_tooltip player_id='161836' first='Addie' last='Emerson'], the #1 right side in the State, and [player_tooltip player_id='250404' first='Billie' last='Ross'], a Washington athlete, took command of the right side. Anchoring the team's back row as their libero was [player_tooltip player_id='257559' first='Addy' last='Azavedo']. Ainsley Arbow also saw court time, playing [player_tooltip player_id='267161' first='Sadie' last='Ross']' back row rotations. In the middle, [player_tooltip player_id='257581' first='Elliana' last='Carroll'] and [player_tooltip player_id='161843' first='Gabby' last='Troche'] were a formidable front. </p>

<p><strong>AMERICAN BID</strong> – NPJ Salem 16 National</p>

<p>The NPJ 16-1 Salem team put up a competitive front, going undefeated on the day until falling to Athena 16-1 in the finals. [player_tooltip player_id='161823' first='Evie' last='Morrissette'] stepped up big time this tournament and successfully ran a 5-1 in each match as their setter. [player_tooltip player_id='161159' first='Paige' last='Thies'], the #1 recruit in 2026, shouldered a massive offensive load as a six-rotation outside hitter. Playing Thies' opposite, [player_tooltip player_id='161820' first='Mylee' last='Blake'] saw much more action this tournament as a six-rotation pin. [player_tooltip player_id='161827' first='Nyah' last='Doan Mitchell'] switched it up and played primarily on the right side this tournament. Outside hitter turned libero [player_tooltip player_id='267162' first='Yana' last='Tuioti'] led their back row. In the middle, [player_tooltip player_id='161891' first='Olivia' last='Madsen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='161841' first='Giana' last='Elgarico'] were an intimidating front. </p>

<p><strong>FREEDOM BID</strong> – G3VB 16-1</p>

<p>The G3VB 16-1 team had an impressive run at the Bid tournament, defeating OJVA 16-1 in three sets to secure the Freedom bid. Running the offense, [player_tooltip player_id='257592' first='Alexa' last='Schnell'] executed a 5-1 for the team. On the outside and playing all around, [player_tooltip player_id='161821' first='Isabella' last='C Jacobson'] proved dominant. Playing her opposite, Sonja Minarsich. On the right side, Ryland Minnick proved to be a force both offensively and defensively. Zyon Moevoa and [player_tooltip player_id='161832' first='Vivian' last='Buford'] were utilized across the back row as defensive specialists. Leading the back row, sporting the libero jersey, was Ellie Grace. [player_tooltip player_id='268718' first='Ashlin' last='Lockman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='161829' first='Joya' last='Euhus'] proved dominant from the middle.</p>
