Rankings are based on a player's college potential.

2. Size, explosiveness, and athleticism matter.

3. Players move up in the rankings, and that move up drops other players.

Our scouts track between 175 and 250 players in each class, in each state we cover. We understand there will be players that inevitably slip through without coverage or are undercovered. We try to keep the updates frequent so we can find and cover as many athletes as possible and correct any misses that may have happened (they happen). We don't doubt that players we may have ranked lower will exceed what other players accomplish at the college level- this is a subjective snapshot, just like the high school rankings that have been published for years and years for football and basketball.

In an update last year, I discussed factors in the rankings, including playing against top competition, accounting for injuries, beach players/multi-sport athletes, missed seasons, and positional tendencies. Rather than review it all again, I want to touch specifically on positions and size in the rankings.

Looking at recruits from Washington over the past three seasons, Division 1 outsides, rightsides, and middles have all been 5'10" or taller, and the majority of committed Division 2 attackers from our state are also 5'10" or taller. When we rank, we look at an athlete's college potential. College coaches are signaling that height is essential to play at a high level as an attacker; we must weigh that heavily in the rankings. There are a few exceptions when we search for local Division 1 colleges, but not many.

University of Washington- 6" and over. Oregon- One 5'11 attacker. WSU- One 5'9" attacker. Oregon State- 6" and over.

Gonzaga- Here is our big exception to the rule, Raechelle Dykstra. The 5'8" sophomore outside played her club and high school ball in Arizona, where she was highly decorated: GJNC USA All-Tournament MVP, 5A All-Conference & Region Offensive Player of the Year, and 5A All-Conference & Region 1st Team. It's definitely possible for an undersized attacker to make an impact at a high level, but it isn't easy, and our rankings reflect that.

At times, an undersized attacker or setter can convert to libero/ds and perform better in that role than the original. Two Washington setters who converted are playing locally: Ava Jo Berry at UW and Reese Sheppard at the University of Oregon. If you are being recruited as a DS/Libero, update your profile to reflect that position change, and we will evaluate and rank you accordingly.

Our final 2026 rankings are posted. We have had eyes on this class for a solid three years and have enjoyed their growth as players heading into their final club season. The class is talented and deep, has made waves nationally, and we expect several players to have an impact early in their college careers.
