The Emerald City Classic tournament is back for its 35th year! The University of Washington hosts some of the top volleyball teams from Oregon, Washington, and northern Idaho, and PrepDig was lucky enough to see them in action.
Below are a handful of pin hitters that caught our attention over the course of the second day.
Aaron was one of the rare lefties in attendance at ECC. She is a natural fit on the right side and was utilized often to put the ball away. She has a smooth approach and a quick arm. She attacked a multitude of angels and moved the ball around nicely. Her blocking was imposing, shutting down lots of outside hitters. Only a 2026 athlete, she showcases a lot of raw ability and tons of potential.
Poydras is one of the pin hitters for the SIVBC 17-1 team. Watching her team play at last year’s ECC, it was exciting to see how much improvement took place. She has gotten a lot more refined and learned how to control her power over the past year. She has an explosive approach with some serious hops and a crazy fast arm swing. When she connects with the ball it is booming.
Highlights
Chambers was a contributor all around for the WVBA 15-1 team. On day 1, she was utilized as a defensive specialist. But when watching them play on day 2, she was not seen off the court. She was vocal and her teammates looked to her as a leader. When attacking, she was smart and utilized the block. But when the set was there, she swung away. She has a tough jump float serve that racked up lots of disruptions and service aces.
For OJVA 15-1, Johnson juggled playing both right side and outside at ECC. With 2026 stud Addie Cameron not at full capacity, healing from an ankle injury, Johnson stepped up offensively when called upon. She oozes athleticism and has some serious hops. She does a good job mixing up fast and powerful swings with well-placed, off-speed shots, to rack up kills. She is active across the net, and puts up a solid and formidable block, sealing with the net to shut down hitters.
Kayfes has settled into her new role as a six-rotation pin nicely. Her play at ECC was a testament to this. She contributed offensively in both the front and back row. On the outside, she forced the ball down the line or sharp cross to rack up points. Her play across the back row has improved significantly. Given how quickly she has adjusted and improved this season, Kayfes is an athlete to keep your eye on. With tons of athleticism and potential, she is an athlete, I predict, will continue to get better and better.
Kincaid is the #3 recruit for the class of 2026 so it is no surprise she was a major contributor for the OJVA 15-1 team over ECC weekend. Long and lanky, she has an incredibly high reach on the ball and can obliterate from anywhere on the court. A young athlete with lots of potential, Kincaid demonstrated a strong foundation of her physical abilities and skills when watching her play.
Charlotte Leipheimer

With dynamic sister duo Tristyn Ervin and Tierney Ervin moving to Las Vegas, two major holes were left in NPJ 15-1’s roster. Leipheimer stepped up big time to fill one of them. At ECC she took on a huge offensive and defensive load as a six-rotation outside hitter. Although a little undersized, she has some serious hang time and good court vision, so she was able to rack up points. Her ball control abilities were steady and consistent. She exuded positive energy on the court.

Ross is a top 5 recruit coming out of Oregon, so it is no surprise she is a major contributor for Athena 16-1. As a six-rotation pin, playing opposite Madi Andrews, the pair prove unrelenting to opponents. She has a hammer of an arm and can rip from anywhere on the court. However, she brings some serious finesse to the game, with the ability to chip, tip and roll the ball, to create point scoring opportunities for herself. Her defensive game is continuing to improve, she made some electrifying digs to keep the team in rallies.
Highlights
Terrell, who played opposite 2026 stud Laura Eichert, made for quite the terminal pair. As a six-rotation pin hitter, Terrell was utilized all around. She is long, with a high reach on the ball. She showcased some relentless swings at ECC, not backing down when she made an error. This made her hard to predict, most athletes would play it safe with a tip, but Terrell would hammer away, ball after ball. She also did a good job mixing up her attack location, moving the ball around the court to rack up kills.
Highlights
Young has showcased her versatility this season, listed as the #6 setter in Washington, she was seen on the outside at ECC for Space Needle. And after watching her play, it is easy to see why, as she can hit with the best of them! Although a little undersized at 5’8”, she has a decent vertical jump and has good court vision. She sees holes in the defense and block and knows where to place the ball to rack up kills. But make no mistake, she can absolutely rip at the ball when the opportunity presents itself.
