Highlights
Flint Hill (23-3) – They took a loss last weekend to the number one team in the DMV Holy Cross. They have yet to lose to a team from Virginia. At the start of the season Coach Thai Nguyen said he really liked this team, especially his two frosh Hunter Ross Hunter Ross 6'1" | MB Flint Hill | 2027 State VA and Alli Robinson Alli Robinson 6'1" | MB Flint Hill | 2027 State VA . Both stand over 6 feet and are second and third to Ryla Jones Ryla Jones 6'4" | MB Flint Hill | 2024 State #80 Nation VA in blocks. It appears he got that assessment right.
Riverside (17-0) – You have to give them their due for running over their competition. They are the only team to have beaten Woodson and they have taken down Briar Woods twice. Kennedy Peyton Kennedy Peyton 5'7" | OH Riverside | 2027 State VA is a frosh on the roster. She plays outside but yields to Simone Schaefer Simone Schaefer 5'11" | OH Riverside | 2025 State VA and Adriana Perodin Adriana Perodin 5'9" | OH Riverside | 2024 State VA when it comes to playing time. Her hits carry enough velocity that she could start on most teams.
Bishop O’Connell (21-6) – They also recently lost to Holy Cross, ending a 20 game win streak since their Florida trip. The only Virginia team they have lost to is Virginia Academy, who make their first appearance on the top 20 with this list. The Knights were able to beat them in four later on in the season. There are no frosh on the O’Connell roster, but last year’s frosh Teodora Stamenkovic Teodora Stamenkovic 6'2" | MB Bishop O'Connell | 2026 State VA has 12 kills in her last 13 attempts in her last two games for a .923 hitting percentage. She sits third on the team in kills.
Hidden Valley (23-1) – A team whose only loss has been to number 1 Flint Hill. They may be a Class 3 school but they have beaten some high schools in higher classes such as Briar Woods, Riverbend, Georgetown Day and James Woods. The Falcons have no frosh on their roster. Junior Calli Anderson Calli Anderson 5'8" | S Hidden Valley | 2025 State VA recently reached a milestone event with 1,500 assists.
Langley (16-2) – If you take Madison High School off their schedule this team would be undefeated. This is another team that has no frosh. One downside for this team is that other than Madison they have played no other teams in the top 20.
Riverbend (23-1) – Their only loss has been to Hidden Valley. They appear to have won their region, beating Colonial Forge twice. Frosh setter Averi Wright appears on the roster but sophomore Aubrey Parker Aubrey Parker 5'11" | S Riverbend | 2026 State VA is their main setter.
Highlights
Chantilly (11-2) – The Chargers lack a tough schedule. They have split with both Madison and Oakton in their Region. If Madison does not beat Oakton next week Chantilly will not win their Region. Caycee Chhum Caycee Chhum 5'7" | S Georgetown Day | 2027 State VA and Erin Green Erin Green 5'11" | RS Chantilly | 2027 State VA are two frosh contributing to the Charger success. Setter Caycee leads the team in assists while pin hitter Green sits fourth on her team in kills.
Highlights
Woodson (15-1) – They lost their starting libero Eve McLaury Eve McLaury 5'11" | DS/L Woodson | 2024 State VA for the year due to injury. The Cavaliers replaced her with last year’s libero Stella Gilligan Stella Gilligan 5'6" | DS/L Woodson | 2024 VA . The team continues to win. To date, their only loss has been to Riverside. Oakton is the one team they beat that is ranked in the top 20. No frosh appears on the varsity roster but one of last year’s star frosh Sofie Ferrell Sofie Ferrell 5'9" | S Woodson | 2026 State VA has taken on more of the setting responsibility. Another star frosh from last year Emma Gardner Emma Gardner 6'3" | OH WT Woodson | 2026 State VA sits number two on the team in kills.
Highlights
James Madison (16-3) – Their only three losses have been to Colonial Forge, Chantilly and Oakton. They have beaten Langley twice and taken down Colgan. Their last match of the year is against Oakton. The Cougars swept Madison in their first encounter. Frosh Laila Chadwick Laila Chadwick 5'8" | DS/L James Madison | 2027 State VA is their big offensive presence from the left side. She leads the team in kills. Chloe Barth Chloe Barth 5'9" | RS James Madison | 2027 State VA brings her offensive skills to the right side. Both are smaller pin hitters measured at 5’9″ or less.
Highlights
Colgan (16-3) – Colgan just keeps on winning. They have lost some tough tournament matches against Flint Hill, North Stafford and James Madison. Since those losses they have raced off to a ten game winning streak. They do have a five set rematch against Flint Hill on Monday. No frosh on their roster but sophomore Tehillah Garrison Tehillah Garrison 5'9" | OH Colgan | 2026 State VA is contributing more with her outside hitting and jump spin serve. She leads the team in aces and sits second in kills. Another sophomore Elizabeth York Elizabeth York 6'3" | MB Colgan | 2026 State VA has been seeing time at middle, leading the team in blocks.
Briar Woods (19-3) – Two of their three losses have been against Riverside, while their other loss has been against Hidden Valley. They have no top 20 wins on their schedule. Kaitlin Tan is the lone frosh on their roster, but she does not see a lot of playing time. Sophomore Molly Gardner Molly Gardner 5'8" | DS/L Briar Woods | 2026 State VA has been contributing at the libero spot, a role she played for them as a frosh last year.
First Colonial (16-1) – They lost to Colonial Forge during their second match of the season but have won 15 in a row since. Kellam may be their biggest win on their schedule. The Patriots appear to have the Beach Region sewn up. They do have four frosh on their roster, but that is because they lack a junior varsity team. Sophomores Teagan Emdadi Teagan Emdadi 5'8" | RS First Colonial | 2026 State VA and Grace Davies-Hackenburg may be their biggest contributors from the sophomore group.
James Woods (16-2) – At the Endless Summer tournament they lost to Hidden Valley and Flint Hill. A six game winning streak has followed including a second win over conference rival Millbrook. Frosh Kyla Wilhelm has been contributing from outside. Kennedy Spaid Kennedy Spaid 5'11" | OH James Wood | 2026 State VA and Brenna Corbin Brenna Corbin 5'5" | DS/L James Wood | 2026 State VA were the frosh that led them to a championship last year. Their contribution continues this season.
St. Catherines (16-2) – They had a big five set win against Midlothian. This Tuesday they have an important game against Collegiate, a team they had lost to earlier this season. Ada Huntington is the only frosh on their roster but her playing time is limited. Sophomore Bailey Loving Bailey Loving 5'8" | DS/L St. Catherines | 2026 State VA leads the team in aces and is third in digs.
Colonial Forge (14-4) – Two losses against conference foe Riverbend and another against Flint Hill are not surprising. The recent loss against North Stafford hurts. They are the only team to beat First Colonial and have a win against James Madison. Defensive specialist Liz Smith is the only frosh on their roster.
Midlothian (14-1) – Their only loss was a five set match against St. Catherines. That loss ended a 33 game winning streak. They have started a new seven game winning streak. This week’s game against James River Midlothian is critical since it could decide the top spot in the Dominion Region. No frosh on their roster.
Virginia Academy (30-6) – Like Bishop O’Connell, a number of their losses occurred in a Florida tournament. They beat O’Connell there but then lost in a rematch in four sets. A big win over Chelsea Academy put them in the top 20. They have a reclassified frosh, Louise Neuhart Louise Neuhart 6'0" | OH Independence | 2027 State VA who leads the team in kills.
Oakton (14-4) – They had won 12 games in a row until a loss to Chantilly. During that streak they beat Chantilly and Madison. The Cougars started off their season slow, losing three of their first five matches. Their only frosh is Marissa Turek Marissa Turek 5'10" | RS Oakton | 2027 State VA , who hits right side.
Highlights
Millbrook (12-3) – They recently took an unexpected loss to Sherando. Up until then their only other losses were to James Wood. They rely on three frosh, outside Aaliyah Green Aaliyah Green 5'9" | OH Millbrook | 2027 State VA , libero Katherine Madden Katherine Madden 5'4" | DS/L Millbrook | 2027 State VA and setter Paisley Cook Paisley Cook 5'5" | S Millbrook | 2027 State VA to fill their roster. All three see significant playing time.
Atlee (16-2) – Their two losses were to Massaponax and Hanover. Since then, they have rolled on a seven game winning streak, including a win over Hanover. Frosh Blake Crawford Blake Crawford 5'7" | OH Atlee | 2027 State VA has a strong left handed swing that has contributed to their success.
Dropped from the list Chelsea Academy (15-3), Kellam (15-4) and Stonebridge (27-1). On the bubble Collegiate (17-3), Colonial Heights (15-1), Hanover (13-3), Ocean Lakes (12-3), Grafton (15-4)
