Catching Up on Commits – Iowa’s Class of 2028

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We're catching up on what was a busy summer in terms of college commitments.&nbsp; The 2028s were able to officially open their recruiting process and for some - the process went real fast.&nbsp; We are going to look at the 2028s in Iowa and where they all stand.&nbsp; Always exciting to see athletes give their verbal, Iowa should be very proud of this group!&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>In State Schools Keeping Top Athletes</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The state of Iowa has done real well keeping their top kids close to home.&nbsp; UNI is building a top class of Iowa kids where it won't only be among the best in the Missouri Valley, but this is making noise nationally.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='573313' first='Deviryn' last='McCarty'] out of MOC-Floyd Valley is among one of the top liberos in the country and recently gave her verbal to the Panthers.&nbsp; She joins [player_tooltip player_id='545946' first='Addison' last='Waldorf'], the state's top setter in 2028 along with [player_tooltip player_id='730419' first='Hailey' last='Wiederin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='702737' first='Alena' last='Schaack'] who are also among the top ten in the state.&nbsp; Iowa State has continued getting top talent from the state after a big time Class of 2026 and 2027, they picked up [player_tooltip player_id='775157' first='Jeorgia' last='Evans'] out of Mid Prairie who is one of the top athletes in the state and had a huge summer for Iowa United.&nbsp; Drake has been sneaky good with their recruits and continue to build momentum off a big Class of 2026 class coming in.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='732859' first='Elle' last='Isaacson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='763526' first='Myla' last='Rude'] will be staying in the Des Moines Metro and will compete for their hometown team.&nbsp; Rude was part of a very successful Ohana squad who made noise in the Iowa Region this past season.&nbsp; Iowa picked up a high energy libero and hometown kid in [player_tooltip player_id='540833' first='Izzie' last='McDonald'], great fit on both ends.&nbsp; She will look to get Iowa City West back to the state tournament this fall.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>The Pipleline To South Dakota Continues</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>South Dakota has been able to pull some big talent from Iowa. They currently have Avery Van Hook, Amelia Dugger, and Ella Rogers on the current roster.&nbsp; Van Hook was a standout for [program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] and Marion - she's built quite the resume as a Coyote with multiple all league nods.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='516002' first='Julia' last='Schlarbaum'] was a quick commit to South Dakota.&nbsp; The six rotation outside hitter out of Clear Creek-Amana is able to score from anywhere on the court, she will be a high volume point scorer.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='781456' first='Morgan' last='Kooiman'] is a major presence at the net with her block and scoring ability.&nbsp; She could be a major impact in the Summit League.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Heading To New Programs</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There are programs that are accustomed to bringing in Iowa kids, but in the 2028 class we have some new programs these athletes will be heading to.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='560368' first='Elle' last='Hatlevig'] will be heading Michigan State who is really building recruiting momentum picking up top talent from the Midwest.&nbsp; Her club teammate [player_tooltip player_id='545971' first='Avery' last='Cordes'] will head to Duke, she'll play in the historic venue of Cameron Indoor Stadium.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='701976' first='Adelyn' last='Stien'] will play in the Big 12 and head to Houston.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='697463' first='Audrey' last='Small'] will head to Ft.
