has turned back-row reps into a growth story.
Bennett was an MVP at our SoCal Sophomore ID Camp in June 2025, where her quick, powerful swing stood out. She is now a George Washington commit, and she will miss today's match for her official visit to George Washington University. She answered before the trip.
Avery's Voice
“With the rescheduling of our game I will unfortunately be missing the game because of my official visit to George Washington University. I think my biggest growth since the ID camp was really excelling in my back row play. This high school season we have worked many hours on passing and defense reps in left, middle and right back. Because of this I think it's really improved and showed in games!”
She names the skill that separates pin hitters at the next level, which is passing and defense from all three back-row spots. Coaches should note that she credits repetitions, not talent.

treats a spot as something she keeps earning.
In May, Dela Fuente told us her coach had challenged her to earn her spot, and she described a move toward outside hitter built on passing, defense, and back-row attacking. She was also an NTDP Spring invitee in 2025.
Anaya's Voice
“This season has taught me that earning your spot isn't just about getting on the court, it's about being ready to step up whenever and however your team needs you. Being a sophomore on a team with such a strong senior class has pushed me to become a better player, learn from my teammates and make every opportunity count. I've learned to trust myself, stay ready and do whatever I can to help my team succeed. I'm really excited for playoffs because we've worked so hard to get here and I want to help us go as far as we can!”
She has taken the message from May and made it about the group. Her answer is about readiness and contribution, not minutes, and coaches looking for a sophomore who stays prepared should take note.

plays with an energy she wants opponents to feel.
Gonzalez was part of our CPA All Star coverage in 2025 and stood out for her versatility at the Salt Lake City Showcase in April. In May, she said she enjoys challenging the idea that middles cannot pass, and that she will chase down balls by reading the net accurately.
Raneighla's Voice
“During a playoff match it's important to have a presence that is so undeniable that it electrifies your teammates and intimidates your opponent. The power of energy matched with execution is the most dangerous player to be in a playoff match. Getting a touch on EVERY hit, off block touching, being so loud it's distracting to the other side, pulling the blockers to open things up for my pins, being too fast for them to get up on the block like an annoying mosquito they can't swat away. That is who I am and will always be.”
She describes a middle who attacks, covers, and talks for the entire match. Coaches who want a blocker who also creates tempo and noise for her team should watch her.

is growing through two big changes at once.
Gurney is a junior libero. In May, she told us she was transitioning from setter to libero and described herself as a gamer who plays with drive and grit. In June, she said leadership and staying present when the game sped up translated best at a college showcase.
Blake's Voice
“The most important thing in these matches is to stay present and be able to move on from mistakes and stay consistent and confident, especially in the back. Moving schools and switching from setter to libero at the same time has pushed me to grow so much as a player. I'm playing with and against some of the best players in the country, and our coaches expect the best from us every day, so I've put in extra work all season to make sure I'm ready for whatever my team needs from me in the back. I think the big advantage we have over the other teams is how close we all are, we are genuinely playing for each other and that's why I am so confident in our ability to win it all.”
Staying present is the same trait she named at a showcase in June, and it fits the job. She has made two big changes in one year and talks about both without excuses. Coaches evaluating liberos should note how often she brings it back to what her team needs from her in the back.

Husband is a sophomore right side. As a freshman, she told us crunch time is where she thrives, and she recorded 13 blocks at Red Rock Rave in March.
SR's Voice
“My mindset going up against Sierra Canyon's pins is to do my job as an opposite and minimize their offense! Sierra Canyon's team has some of the best outside hitters in the country with senior commits Hanna McGinest and McKenna McIntosh. I respect them, but I don't fear them. I had some success against them in our last match and I plan to build on that. Film study is always key to understanding hitters' tendencies… Now I have to go out and execute the game plan. I know it won't be easy, but I am up for the challenge!”
She has a clear job, which is to take away the opposing outside, and she has film study and a plan to do it. Coaches evaluating right sides should note how she frames her role against two senior commits.

Zoe Kirovsky is swinging bigger and playing faster.
Kirovsky, a senior middle blocker, told us at Durango in September that she is best known for being consistent and dependable, and that she was working on becoming more aggressive and confident with her attack. She also said she hopes volleyball takes her to the Division I level.
Zoe's Voice
“Since Durango, I've really focused on becoming a more aggressive and confident attacker. Playing at Marymount has pushed me to compete at a much faster pace, and I've learned to trust myself, be more decisive, and take bigger swings instead of playing it safe. Going up against Sierra Canyon's front row, my mindset is to stay aggressive, play fearless, and trust all the work I've put in this season. I know they have a strong front row, but I'm excited for the challenge and the opportunity to show how much I've grown!”
The adjustment she named in September is the one she describes now: bigger swings and quicker decisions. She is not backing away from Sierra Canyon's front row, and coaches should watch whether that aggression holds up against a big block.

McIntosh, a USC commit, was an NTDP Spring invitee in 2025 and a Durango All-Tournament selection that September. Our October look at California's 2027 Top 10 listed her with 1,403 career kills, 904 digs, and 193 aces.
McKenna's Voice
“Volleyball has been such a huge part of my life, and as I get ready to head to USC, I want to finish my high school career knowing I gave everything I had. This CIF playoff run means so much to me because I have the opportunity to go 4-for-4 in section championships, but more importantly, to leave a lasting legacy with this incredible group of girls. We've put in the work, we trust each other, and we know exactly what we're capable of. We're not just playing to win. We're playing to make history, bring home a Section and State Championship, and leave a legacy that will be remembered long after we graduate.”
Those career numbers describe a player who contributes in every phase of the game, and her answer shows a senior who measures this run by what the group leaves behind. She talks about trust and capability as a team, not just her own résumé.

Oerlemans, a Stanford beach commit, grew up in Holland and speaks fluent Dutch. At Durango in September, she said she was playing back row for the first time and wanted to improve her defense. She was also a Durango All-Tournament selection in 2025.
Katelyn's Voice
“Learning how to play back row as a middle has definitely been extremely challenging and a big learning curve. It hasn't been a steady improvement, and there are some games and practices that go well, and some that really don't. But overall, I think it has taught me a lot about myself as a player both mentally and physically. My coaches and players have been very supportive and helpful, making it an easier adjustment and a fun experience. This playoff being my last one at Marymount is very bittersweet. The past three years, this time is always my favorite part of the season because you never know if the game you're playing will be the last, so everyone is going all out, giving 100% focus and effort. We have put in so much work to prepare this past month especially, and I really hope that it is apparent in these next three games. I can't wait to play tomorrow and enjoy some of the possible last games as a Sailor!!”
She is honest about the process, saying it has not been a steady improvement, and that candor shows maturity. A middle willing to learn the back row and talk openly about the lows is easy for a coach to trust.

Rincon is a sophomore setter. In May, she said unpredictability was starting to define her, because she attacks when she needs to but looks to move the ball around and use every offensive option.
Sydney's Voice
“This fall has been a big learning season for me. Learning from our senior setters Lucky Fasavalu and Olive Shum-Koubek has been so helpful. Watching how they train, communicate, and prepare has changed my approach, and I've become a more versatile setter because of it.
The SC hitters, especially our senior hitters Kendall Omoruyi, Eva Jeffries, McKenna McIntosh, and Hanna McGinest, have also been instrumental in my high school experience. Learning how to set them and defend against them every day has elevated my game. My goal is to be ready for whatever the team needs, whenever it needs it.
I'm excited for tomorrow against Marymount, and I'm so grateful to be part of this group!”
She learns from the people she plays with every day, and she names them. Setting senior hitters and defending against them in practice is a daily test, and her answer shows she treats it that way.

Saryan is a senior defensive specialist and outside hitter. She appeared in our August 2025 coverage of Sierra Canyon's depth, and this is the first time we are featuring her voice.
Arpi's Voice
“As a senior, this CIF run means so much to me because it's my last opportunity to compete alongside the girls I've grown so close to over the years. After winning CIF last season, I know how special that experience is, and I'm excited to chase that feeling one more time. I'm especially proud of the support and energy I bring to the team, and I hope we can finish our season with another championship and memories we'll carry long after graduation!”
She names support and energy as what she is proudest of. A senior who defines her role that way is the teammate every coach wants in the locker room, and she has already felt what a CIF title is like.

Kassidee's Voice
“Playing behind the best middle in the country has been such an unreal experience. I've learned so much from Kendall and all of our seniors, and being able to play alongside them every day in practice has really opened my eyes to how much there is to learn and improve on. They push me to want to get better every single day, and I hope that when I become a junior next year I can have the same confidence and talent they have and learn to command the court the way they do. Tam is a freshman libero at Marymount who won a club national championship this summer. She told us her trainer's last piece of feedback before nationals was to play like a dominant libero, and she has described playing out of gratitude.
Alison's Voice
“My first high school season has taught me the importance of completing any task or challenge wholeheartedly. As a freshman, work ethic and attitude, both on and off the court, are critical. Whether it is always being the first one in the gym for morning practices to help set up the nets or spending the weekends painting senior night posters, I have learned that there are an infinite number of ways to help a team. Also, morning practices before school, travel, and late-night games have taught me time management skills early into high school. I am so grateful I got the opportunity to be part of Marymount's Varsity Volleyball team this school season and play with so many talented athletes. I have learned countless lessons, but my biggest takeaway that I will continue to focus on is putting my all into whatever role I am put in.”
Her answer is about work ethic and role: first in the gym to set up the nets, painting senior night posters, managing a heavy schedule. Coaches recruiting a libero look at how she handles the small jobs, and she is already thinking that way as a freshman.
