Tri-State 2027s To Keep On The Radar

We're a month into the high school season where typically recruiting slows down a bit at this time of year.  We're taking a look at the Class of 2027, the juniors who are tearing up the high school courts and will be ones to keep tabs on heading into the club season.  Look at some names to know from Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.     [player_tooltip player_id='490015' first='Mazie' last='Sweers'] is one of the top available pin attackers in the Class of 2027 who preps at Pleasant Valley High School and plays club at Iowa Select out of Davenport. Sweers has an explosive attack where she can score points from the outside or the right side. This high school season, she has been able to demonstrate her all around ability where she has been a setter for Pleasant Valley. At the next level, teams will look to her for attacking, she knows how to be terminal and isn't afraid to take a rip.     [player_tooltip player_id='489998' first='Belle' last='Seaman'] is another versatile athlete who can do a little bit of everything. For her Iowa United club team she runs the show, a true 5-1 setter who can defend, block, dish, and score when her number is called. For her Muscatine high school squad, she is nearing 100 assists and 100 kills in three weeks of play. What Seaman offers at the next level is a high IQ, mature style of play where she just glides on the court. She is going to elevate the level of play in the gym and can be utilized in a a variety of ways.     There is a different element that [player_tooltip player_id='490009' first='Leah' last='Caffery'] brings to the court where she has a high IQ and just a different type of grit that brings the level of play up on her side of the net. She is the setter for Iowa Select and has been quite the name in the Quad Cities area where she leads Wilton High School. They are currently sitting at a 12-4 record and Caffery is averaging nearly ten assists per set. Her ability to get to the ball, use her hands, and find the favorable matchup for her attackers is special. She has an older sister playing at Northwest Missouri State and could be one D2 schools would love to have on campus. She will have a big matchup this week where Wilton takes on another top ten team in Mid-Prairie in conference play.     The ceiling is pretty high for [player_tooltip player_id='818213' first='Ryanne' last='Brubaker'] of Grundy Center. The 6'8 junior has made a huge amount of progress in the past year where she is a dominant force in the middle. She leads her team in kills and blocks where Grundy Center is in a deeply talented conference race that features some of the top small school volleyball in the state. Their two losses on the season have come at the hands of top ranked and defending state champions in Denver. Brubaker plays for CIA out of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area and could be a steal at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='529835' first='Ellie' last='Kowalski'] is one of the top available players in Illinois where she is a gritty libero from Chicago. She goes to high school at St. Ignatius and plays her club volleyball at 1st Alliance. Watching Kowalski live is definitely a treat where she anticipates well and is so quick to the ball. She can handle a high volume in serve receive and is extremely well trained. She is accustomed to high level competition on the high school and club courts while averaging four digs per set for Ignatius.     Micho 16 Blue Smoke had quite a season in 2025 and [player_tooltip player_id='512501' first='Quinn' last='Grevengoed'] was a key player behind their success. The outside hitter has length, athleticism, and is a solid six rotation player who can score from the front or backrow. She preps at Chicago Christian where her team is currently sitting at 12-3. She is putting up quite the statistic line where she leads the team in kills, hitting percentage, and aces.     The 6'1 setter/right side combo player is definitely one who can make waves at the next level. She plays for MOD out of Chicagoland and preps at Loyola Academy. Watching Mikal live, she brings an athletic and physical style to the setter position. Defensively she can put up a strong block and defend the right back position while offensively she can find the favorable matchup and take it over on two when she needs to. This MOD squad from the 16s age group was very strong and will have other 2027s to take a look at.     I have always been impressed by the game of [player_tooltip player_id='435889' first='Gigi' last='Chasco'] who preps at Wisconsin Lutheran and plays club for [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting']. Chasco is a key cog for the Vikings who are off to a 15-4 start this season where she averages over seven assists per set, over three digs, and has a mature knack for the game. She just makes things happen. With her skill set and high level training, she would be a great pick up at the next level.     The Class of 2027 outside hitter knows how to score points. She brings a heavy arm swing to the pin and can score from the left or right side. What is tough about her game is her ability to take what the defense gives her. She can hit the sharp angle, find the deep corner, and uses the block to her advantage. Her serve is also deadly where she is able to score points from the service line, backrow attacking, and front row. She is currently averaging nearly 4.5 kills per set for Manitowoc Lincoln who is accustomed to a challenging schedule of top teams in Wisconsin.     I know Halverson has to be on the radar of plenty of college coaches where the lefty attacker is one who can score points at will. She has a fast arm swing and is one who can score points from the outside, right side, and backrow. She was a key piece to the Barron state championship team in 2024 and are looking for a repeat in 2025. Teams are scheming to stop her while she still averages 4.5 kills per set. Her high school teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='590014' first='Abby' last='Miller'] is a rising prospect in the Class of 2027 at the libero position. These two are definitely ones to watch out of Western Wisconsin.     So athletic. The middle blocker out of De Pere High School in the Green Bay area brings a long wing span, quick lateral speed, and jumps like a deer. She has played her club ball for [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] where she was able to show her versatility out of the middle. So far this high school season she is leading the Redbirds in blocks and hitting efficiency.
