The annual Volleypalooza Tournament in Austin, Texas brought together some of the nation's top programs, and it ended with a California rivalry playing out more than a thousand miles from home. In the championship, Torrey Pines battled Cathedral Catholic in a high-level final that felt every bit like a San Diego Section clash, only this one happened on Texas soil. The Falcons handled every momentum shift on their way to a 20–25, 26–24, 25–21 championship win, putting an end to a streak of tough losses to their cross-town rival and signaling that this rivalry will be one to watch all season.
