Expert Analysis
Bob Abels | Prep Dig Scout
In previous years she has always been a right side hitter. I first noticed her setting at one of our Prep Dig showcases. She seemed to have the hands to make it happen. She won a top performer award at a Prep Dig stock up showcase without any regard to her setting.
For the new Metro National team she is one of the two setters on the team. It is still a work in progress. Even if she did not set she still is a force as a right side hitter. Her 6’0 frame allows her to stay in the front row when not setting. When she hits the ball you will not think she is a setter.

She lists herself as setter but until this year she played right side. At 6’0″ she can certainly provide some offense from the right side. I saw a little bit of her setting at a Prep Dig showcase. It will be interesting to see how that jorney progresses.

so the setting position will open up. She currently ranks number 54 in our class of 2028, but that was as a right side. If the setting works out that ranking should rise. Volleyball is still relatively new to her. Her initial sport was softball where she played shortstop.
The athleticism shows when you watch her play volleyball.

Elizabeth jumped from 93 to 54 in our rankings. She hit right side for Langley this year. During the summer she also won a top performer award at a Prep Dig showcase.
At 6’0″ she hits the ball pretty hard from the right side. Then, when you consider this is only her second year of volleyball it leaves you even more impressed. Three years ago she was playing shortstop for her travel team. Spiking was not a skill she had yet acquired. A year later, at the Prep Dig showcase she won a top performer award. She even broke out her hands to set. Don’t sell her short on any skill.
Langley is graduating their two setters this year. It will be interesting to see if Elizabeth can claim one of those positions. It appears she will play for Metro this year.

For Virginia Juniors Elizabeth hit right side. Their roster already had three setters. At the Prep Dig showcase she showed off her setting skillsy. For Langley she can be used as a right side and an emergency setter if they want to take

led all of Virginia in assists with 947 and was recently voted pre-season player of the year for the state of Virginia by Maxpreps. It will be difficult to replace her at setter.
Elizabeth was a shortstop until she hung up the cleats to focus on volleyball. It has been my experience that softball players with their natural throwing motion bring an easy transition to volleyball and the arm motion that is required for serving.
Expect Elizabeth to play right side this year for Langley. Her setting career may have to wait one year after Claire graduates. Hard to replace a setter who has won back to back championships.
Elizabeth debuts at number 93 for our class of 2028 ranking but snagging a starting role on the right side would raise this ranking the next time they are issued.

I was somewhat surprised when I saw Elizabeth setting during the six person break outs. When I asked her about that she stated she wanted to give it a try. She plays right side for Virginia Juniors, which would be a natural fit for a setter in the front row. She also showed her versatility by playing middle as well.
Her setting still needs some work. Consistency through repetition with a minor tweak of technical corrections could make it work. While Langley currently has one more season from Claire Moe, further developing Elizabeth into a setter would be a coup for Langley.
Of course, as a hitter Elizabeth puts the ball away. You would hate to waste that offensive production in the front row. Her 6’0″ frame also allows her to put up a solid block on the right side.
Looking forward to seeing how that setting experiment develops. Virginia Juniors will play in the USAV Junior National championships in Dallas in the Freedom Division. They already carry three setters on their roster.

At 6’0″ she has good height. While she lists herself as right side/setter I only saw her hit right side. She puts the ball away from the right side with authority. She also swung well at an out of system set.
An athletic player, it appears she played shortstop on a travel softball team. She hung up her cleats when she discovered volleyball. It will be interesting to see her development as a setter.

has one more year and Langley will need another setter to replace her. Elizabeth could fill that role.
Even if she did not set her offense is strong enough to fit into the rankings. The junior varsity at Langley voted her the most improved player. That could spell a jump to varsity next year.
