Macie won the MVP award at the Fredericksburg Christian tournament. She is probably one of the hardest hitters in the area. She is one of four team captains for the Knights but perhaps the captain the players look up to the most. There is always a lot of pressure to produce, especially now that the O’Connell team has a plethora of young sophomore and frosh hitters to help carry the load.

Macie is second to frosh Nadia Wooten Nadia Wooten 5'11" | OH Bishop O'Connell | 2030 State VA in kills. However, that does not always tell the story. Her hitting percentage sits at an atmospheric .527. Last year, when teams could key on her because she was the top hitter on the team her hitting percentage was .286. She also is becoming a more savvy hitter, trying to become more aware of the block. She is seeing the block better knowing that hitting cross court when the middle is up is perhaps not the best course of action. Her change of pace shots are also improving.

With Metro up by one 24-23 Macie tried to end the set with a swing that went too fast booming the ball out. On the next play Zora Dimbo Zora Dimbo 5'10" | OH Georgetown Day | 2027 State VA smashed a ball down the line that clearly was going out but the defender reached out to play the ball and shanked it. A kill and an ace gave Nebraska another one point lead 27-26 but their next serve sailed out.

With the score tied at28-28 Macie powered a ball through the block for another one point lead. A setter dump again tied it for Nebraska. Nebraska struck the antennae on their next hit giving Metro the 30-28 win. They also won the second set by a two point margin 30-28.
